Bowsword Progress (Posted 1st September 2012)

After weeks of trying to build the damn thing I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere! Asked my Dad for help with drilling the holes and putting the machine bolts in this evening. My Dad is very technically minded and has pointed out several things that are not quite right and need doing to make the transformation from sword to bow more sturdy.
-I need to put thick washers in between the blade and the main body of the sword to stop the blades from being so flimsy.
-The machine bolts are either too short or too long, so I need to get a vice for my work bench and a hacksaw so I can cut the screws so they are the correct length.
-I will need to use locktight on the nuts, otherwise they will constantly be coming undone.
-The draw back mechanism on the handle is not working because there is no space for the handle to slide, so I need to put another layer of wood into the handle so it has space to move.

Hopefully when it is complete the bowsword will be able to switch forms using a spring mechanism, will have a drawback mechanism so it looks like I am firing arrows, and will have hinged arm bits through which the blade passes when switching from sword to bow form and back again.
Also, the colour scheme and design of the bow is based off the Odin Bolt bowsword but as I am not able to find a clear reference picture I've had to improvise a bit. I did not want the default colour scheme as I am not a fan of building default weapons (for my Lightning cosplay I built Omega instead of Blaze Edge).
