| This costume WAS worn for an event, but it doesn't appear on CosplayIsland's lists. I took this costume to Venice, Italy, for the Carnivale in 2011. Wuvi (as she came to be known) and the rest of the Steampunk/Clockpunk group made it to the semi finals of the Grand Masquerade competition, and stood on the stage in St Mark's Square being judged by the leaders of the Cirque du Soleil and La Scala. It was both the most awesome thing I have ever done, and the most terrifying thing I have ever faced. This is Winged Vengeance, an automaton made of blessed bone and ivory, as designed by Keith Thompson: http://www.keiththompsonart.com/pages/vengeance.html His version of her is blonde, and I was a red-head at the time this was made. As such I adapted her design. She is missing a few bits of armour and I could be happier with the wings, but overall given I left myself 2 weeks from a standing start (no patterns, half the materials to hand) whilst also doing degree work, I am very happy with what she looks like. I will hopefully return to this costume at a later date and complete her as per the Keith Thompson print, but for now she is shelved. The wings are six METRES in span, and arc up from points on my back. Though they are a bit basic in design, I was very happy with them. The entire wing rig can be removed from my back and stored in under 2 minutes, and replaced in a similar time. The wings also fold down into a relatively small size so I could take them on a plane with me. | |

This is wonderful! I love Keith Thompson's work and you've done a great job of realising this design.
