| So, it turns out my original foray into cosplaying was so catastrophically bad, I needed to do something to redeem myself! With that in mind, I decided to put together a Poison Ivy costume to go and lurk with the huuuuuge DC group that's planned for May's Expo. I foolishly thought it would be easy, but it's really, really not. Day 1 - Made a leotard without a pattern; cocked it up, started again and managed it. (Hurray!) Day 2 - Started sewing ivy to said leotard; 400 leaves later...casually run out of said ivy without having even finished the damn front... Day 3 - More ivy leaves arrived! Stitched them to the leotard front & back, threw on a wig and tights...and tada! Poison Ivy is complete. n_n | |

That awkward moment when panic sets in. (Posted 24th May 2012) So… Here I am again. This time with a journal entry. I was actually really proud of all the work I put into getting Ivy completed. But the back of the leotard got caught in the zip when I was packing and…yeah… :/ Disaster struck. I've had to remove all of the ivy from an entire segment of the top back to stop it from ripping. This means there's now a 4inch deep segment of green fabric without any leaves on it all around the top of the back (similar idea to where a bra strap fits). It's neat, and I was told that since it's the back it wouldn't really matter…but I feel like it's a bit of a let down now. Mostly since it was the only costume I've made that wasn't complete shit. Which brings me onto problem number #2! I was researching Ivy cosplayers for ideas on poses and stuff in case I did somehow get collared into photos that I usually avoid like the plague…but I'm really paranoid about the way people slate these other amazing people. I don't really want to end up plastered on the internet as the 'fat ivy cosplayer.' Which leaves me in a really awkward place. I want to come hang out the with DC gang, since they seem so lovely, but I am so undeniably scared of getting ripped the piss out of for looking awful. If they can attack people that look phenomenal, what hope in hell do I have?! :( Genuinely might just have to skip her altogether. |

Wow this looks awesome!
This looks like it's going to be epic!! I will totally track you down to snag a photo! :D
Wow, looks great so far!
Woah, that must have taken AGES to sew all those leaves! But it looks fantastic, definately worth it! :D
awesome Ivy!
Looks really ^_^ Must've taken ages to sew on all those leaves O_O
It did take forever! It's really simple to actually do, but so tedious! I think leaves are ingrained into my retinas now! Thankyou though! n_n
adorable <3 I love that leotard, detail is amazing =D x.
That is brilliant! Well done!
Just read your journal! Don't worry so much about the back, if its at the top then your wig should hide most of it. If it really bothers you then you could possibly just glue the missing ivy onto the leotard on the day when you are wearing it? Cosplay is about fun, if you love Ivy and you are proud of the costume then wear her. I can't wait to see photos, you have a gorgeous figure. I hope my Ivy turns out half as nice as this <3
This looks beautiful! You make such a pretty ivy
This has to be one of the better ivy costumes! love the design of the actual leotard! :) great move with the plants! looks so nice and organic!
This looks Awesome!! Are there any more photos of this from the Expo? Did you make it to the group??
(btw Ignore the nasty comments you saw ripping into other Ivy cosplayers. The kinds of people who say such things arent part of the real cosplay community. If they were they wouldnt be ripping into other cosplayers..Actually I feel a bit sad for them, because they are on the fringe, and not able to enjoy cosplay like us.)
Thankyou so much! I did make it to the meet in the end, although I must confess to diving out of the way of the camera most of the time. There's a couple of photos from Expo kicking around though, mostly because people seemed to be quite attached to the light up heels I was hobbling around in. I'll see if I can dig them out. :) (You're right about the nasty comments though, in the end I had far more fun with the lovely Expo goers and not a single person said anything bad - which goes to prove that idiots are the exception and not the rule.)
I think I saw you at expo, you looked great, as did the cosplay ^_^
I agree with Ranma, ignore the "fat" thing, nothing's better than seeing a lovely curvy girl cosplay :D
Aw, thank you! :) I think I saw you in my travels too, I was just far too nervous to come and say hello!
Wow, your looks Awesome :D
