Back to Square 1..... (Posted 20th September 2012)

So, with everything gone wrong (see previous entry), I'm starting again.

- The Sword hilt is now being coated with silicone to produce the mould. It's going to take longer to make the mould than it did last time, but this one should be much more sturdy, and won't die if I leave it for a few weeks. I'm taking my time with it so it might be a could of weeks before any real WIP pics show up.
- Started working on the armour plates. My "Plan C" to use Sintra. I'm not amazingly happy with this because, as much as Sintra is a robust material, and really easy to work with, it's not going to give me the realistic effect that my "Plan A" and "Plan B" materials would have. But if this becomes a well-worn costume, I will upgrade to the Plate Metal that I was looking at.
- I decided to try fixing the blade I had built, rather than starting afresh. So I've filled in areas with Milliput, and spent the better part of an evening sanding both the Milliput and the wood down. I'm now starting to give it base coats of paint, so we will see how things go once the paint is on properly. I might still build a new blade, but I'm hoping that I can still use this one either way.

I will be building this, and I will complete him. Not just because I want to, and I will hopefully be the best Bronn in the UK, but also because I can be stubborn, and this costume has tried to defeat me :P

Everything's gone wrong..... (Posted 16th September 2012)

Everything seems to have gone wrong on this build so far.
-The mould I made for the hilt has disintegrated meaning it will have to be rebuilt.
-The blade is ok, but I've encountered a few kinks in my build method, so I'm tempted to make a new one.
-I can't build the armour out of my original choice of materials, and since "Plan B" was using actual metal plates (which will cost too much in the short term), I'm having to move to my "Plan C" materials.
-I can't currently afford the wool-type fabric to make his top, so I can't even build the armour-less version.

I am still planning to build him, but it's going to take longer than I originally thought.
Now planning to have him finished by Mid-2013

Armour - Measurements and Trials (Posted 30th April 2012)

I have done some rough-arse measurements, and my best guess is that the plates on Bronns vest look to be 2"x1".
He has approx 14 across his chest (shoulder to shoulder). My measurements cross the same place is about 14", so that's where I get the width from.
To get the height, I'm approximating that the plates are twice as high as they are wide.

I will be making a few plates to trial this size on me, so I'll update with how that does soon....
