| We are having a steampunk themed Christmas party at work, so I though I'd track my progress here! This will be an original design, main clothing based on a pattern but modified to a) fit me and b) fit the style! Will be adding a hand made fascinator top hat and lots of accessories! I have chosen the name Gunnstar because my othre half, Paul, and I both have it in our user names, he goes my Gunnstar and I'm GunstarVixen (obviously!) so I though it would fit rather well! I will upload some pictures of both of them when they are done, (his is half finished for this event) but Silver has kindly agreed to do a shoot for us when they are done, so I'll add a new costume for him then. These are original designs, taking inspiration from the steampunk community (and a little help from SJBonner!) hopefully I will have done them proud! OK they are kinda done, as you can see from the piccies, they still need some work, Paul's jacket needs making and there are many more accessories to be made, but I ran out of time. 4/1/10 I'm planning on wearing this to kitacon, but am going to be making some edits. First I'm switching to a black corset, which is also a little longer. Second I'm adding pleather gauntlet gloves with some detailing on the cuff, and I will be adding a panel to the front of the corset with more steampunky detailing. I'm switching the brown belt for a much larger black one, and will be adding a few more things to it. Compass, spanner etc | |

done for the moment (Posted 12th December 2008) Ok so the main outfit is done. Gun, goggles, hat, jacket, skirt, random accessories. I could add more to it but I didn't have time, I probably will punk it up a little more for minami as I'm going to bring it along, but it should be fine for the xmas party |
more progress (Posted 24th November 2008) Hat done, guns taken apart and first coat of paint nearly done too. Pieces for jacket cut and awaiting sewing. |
purchasing (Posted 21st November 2008) Have now bought, some watch parts, copper wire, broach backs, plastic guns, metallic paint in gold copper and gun-metal, lace tights, lace and chain hair flower, spare chain, welding goggles and a purple top. Oh and hat it nearly done, just needs embellishment! |
progress (Posted 20th November 2008) Skirt is done, had to amend the pattern slightly, and lengthen the top half as a) it was way to short and b) the hem sat in the wrong place on my legs. I know it looks at little weird now, but when the jacket is on (*cough* and made *cough*) it will look a lot better |
skirt (Posted 17th November 2008) nearly done, a quick hem at the bottom and the waistband needs sewing on then the skirt is done! next step, the jacket :? |
more fabric (Posted 13th November 2008) finally found some netting for my fascinator. Only took two lunch breaks, four fabric shops (one with an incredibly rude sales assistant. mind you that's why none of us shop in there much) and I found loads in the last shop (srsly black white and ivory in loads of styles!) |
fabric bough (Posted 12th November 2008) spent my lunch break in fabric land (again) got all but the netting for my fascinator (they don't do the right style of netting). Got some awesome buttons that should go nicely! Now to track down some accessories, ebay here I come! |
