Underdress Sleeves added (Posted 26th March 2012)
What a day! Spent most of it at a cosplay meet as Navi. Anyway back to the Gown progress...
Cut the sleeves out, though I'm not happy about not being able to fold the fabric over to get one sleeve piece after I'd cut the first sleeve.
So the second sleeve is in two halves, but there both the right length (1m down the arm). Measured one and its almost two metres wide! Definately be extra swooshy!
Everything is still held together with pins, minus the shoulder seams and the bust darts. Decided not to gore underdress, the slits should be fine since the undergown won't be seen probably.
Back feels loose, ill have to have wider seam allowances to help stop shoulder slippage.
Fabric and Dress Start (Posted 24th March 2012)
Hoorah my fabric arrived today, after me wondering when it would ever arrive...
I do hope I have enough fabric for both the underdress and the main gown. Started on the underdress as you can tell from the new pic.
So far from it being held together with many pins, I've sewn the bust darts and the shoulder seams. Though unlike my navi dress my seam allowance is larger than a sparrows sneeze.
Had fun wearing it when parents had gone to bed, to check how things are with it. Badly needs hemmed due to its length, but that'll be done last.
Not sure whether to gore it or just leave slits in the sides to allow for movements. Its not like it'll be seen since it'll be under the main gown. Still need to cut the sleeves out for it too.
Wish the top half was a bit more figure hugging to be honest ...
Week long thumb twiddle (Posted 21st March 2012)
Urgh, went to the shop today to get more E746....they had every other colour, except the one I need. Apparently they will get more next week, so I can't continue with the embroidery.
On the plus side, I ordered my fabric today so I can work on the main dress to give me something to do.
Sunday Update (Posted 18th March 2012)
Since I haven't been updating this costume too often I might as well type a long one of all the stuff I've done so far.
-Completed the embroidery and beadwork on the first sleeve. I also lined it, which is the first time I've lined my work ever. :D There is still some of the paper on the garment, but I'll remove it fully when its attached to the dress.
So far the sleeves have consumed....
4 skeins of embroidery floss....I need to get more. Again XD
and 2 packets of Stitch and Tear for both sleeve and collar pieces.
