| "Is that really what my hair looks like from the back?" sjbonnar bought me a Time-Turner for Christmas giving me a excuse to do this version of Hermione. However I'm not sure I can pull off looking 13... "Hermione Granger received a Time-Turner from Professor McGonagall in 1993, so that she could attend more classes in her third year than time would allow. Since McGonagall made her swear to not tell anyone about it, she did not mention it to Harry or Ron until the end of the school year, when she and Harry used it to travel back in time and save Sirius Black and Buckbeak from certain death. Special permission from the Ministry of Magic had to be sought to allow Hermione to use one, but her academic record ensured that permission was given." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Please see my journals for more details on the construction of this costume as well as progress photos~ The hoody, t-shirt and trainers were bought from ebay. I made some alterations to the hoody and trainers. The jeans came from a charity shop and had some detailing removed. The belt was made by combining two smaller ones together and changing the buckle. The wig was bought from a wig store and I slightly trimmed the ends. Her wand and Time-Turner are official Noble Collection replicas. Crookshanks is the official plush from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Tour. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got Hermione finished in time for my second trip to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter. I wanted photos on the Hogwarts bridge now that they had opened it up! This costume is mainly made up of pre-made/ shop bought clothing that just needed a few modifications which only took me a few hours over 2 days to complete so no challenge with this one really. It was mainly an excuse to show off some of my replica items. Wore again later that same week (23rd February 2013) for a photo shoot with PaperTiger at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. We didn't stay for too long unfortunately as it was freezing but I hope to return some time when the weather is warmer. I want to do another shoot with this costume dirtied up and Hermione's face scratched etc after returning from the Shrieking Shack. | |

Crookshanks (Posted 20th February 2013) Official Crookshanks plush from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. I think he could do with a slightly more squished face but other than that he's lovely. His fur is matty and keeps coming out in clumps- very in character! |
Complete (Posted 19th February 2013) Just don't have the contacts in or make-up on for these shots. |
Wig again (Posted 18th February 2013) Just a few shots of how it looks when worn. I trimmed the ends very slightly but it didn't need any other work, even the fringe didn't need styling. |
Finished trainers (Posted 18th February 2013) Not the neatest work but fairly happy with the result. |
Trainer modifications (Posted 18th February 2013) I used matt self adhesive vinyl to alter the gold stripes to blue ones. This seemed the quickest and easiest way to achieve the right look. The only downside is the stripes don't have the small stiches as on the actual trainers and I had to cover the Gola brand but figured the later wasn't a big deal as Hermione's jeans are quite long and cover this up most of the time anyway. |
Jeans modifications (Posted 18th February 2013) Hermione's jeans are completely plain so I removed a small Next tag from one of the front pockets then attacked the stitch detailing on the back pockets. The bottom two lines of stitching removed fairly easy but the top line took over double the time due to the type of stitch, it was a pain. The dark blue pattern left behind is obviously what the jeans original colour was, the thread prevented it from fading. Wish that wasn't there obviously but I prefer it to the coloured thread. |
Hoody modifications (Posted 17th February 2013) Tassel/ drawstring (whatever you call it) removed from hood and rivet detail added to pockets. The zipper pull is still inaccurate (supposed to be rounded at the end) but I didn't have anything suitable to replace it with and had no time to order one. |
T-shirt (Posted 17th February 2013) Basic and plain, you only see the top just above the zip of the hoody. |
Hoody (Posted 17th February 2013) Base hoody to be modified. I bought it in an extra small (estimated as a UK size 6) as Hermione's seems quite fitted but it still feels baggy on me and it's quite long also, ending below the belt when it's supposed to end above it. Darn. I also don't like the white trim on the zip. |
Trainers (Posted 17th February 2013) Hermione wears Gola Harrier trainers, a brand that comes in about 50 odd different colour combinations it seems. Unlike other popular trainers like Converse and Vans you can't get cheap rip-offs of the design and her particular colour scheme is on sale for between £35-50, an expense I can't afford or justify. |
Belt (Posted 17th February 2013) I couldn't find a belt with the correct coloured stripes and the closest one came in a childs size only so I had to buy two and combine them to make a belt that would fit me. I joined them using a hot glue gun and replaced the buckles with two D-rings. |
Jeans (Posted 16th February 2013) Medium blue Next jeans found in a charity shop. |
Wig (Posted 14th January 2013) I started watching a few on ebay that I was un-sure of then I found this in a wig store in Peckham, London whilst I was visiting sj. It might need a trim but I haven't tried it on yet to see where the length sits on me. It has a centre skin top parting and the fringe will need little work, if any. |
Time tuner (Posted 5th February 2012) sjbonnar bought me the Noble Collection replica of Hermione's Time-Turner for Christmas which led me to want to do this version of Hermione as an excuse to show it off lol It really is a gorgeous replica with spinning parts and moving sand. " I mark the hours every one nor have I yet outrun the sun. My use and value unto you are gauged by what you have to do. " |

After seeing your original Hermione cosplay, you'll have no trouble with this at all :)
