| I miss some of my older cosplays, so I paid Anastasia another visit. This time though I thought I'd try out one of her dresses that doesn't get cosplayed too often, and that is the Blue Dress that Dimitri gives her before they go to meet Sophie. I already had the necklace from the first time I cosplayed her (for a bit of cardboard and some foam it's done very nicely), so the hardest part of the cosplay was already sorted. I've chosen the version that she wears on the boat when they are learning to waltz so that the bow can match (the bow could then be re-used as an accessory for when little sis wanted to do town dress Ariel, ironic as I've been mistaken for Ariel so many times while wearing this costume). Just something really quick and simple to give me another costume to wear while I worked bigger projects, but I have ended up wearing this costume to Kitacon, Nemacon and October Expo in London so it's taken over Ringo as my go-to favourite. Decided not to use my Ringo wig in the end, as I was ordering a new wig for Rika/Juliet, and it doubled as the perfect Anya wig. Note: a perfectly scallop hemmed underskirt does not cope well with accurate black leggings... static-proofing won out over accuracy, although cold weather quickly changed my mind so I'm working on a second underskirt to solve the problem. The underskirt itself actually turned out to be the most difficult part of this costume as the embroidered scallops around the hem took forever, compared to the rest of the costume which got pulled together in less than a day. Will definately wear this again, and now I've gotten the idea in my head to make more Anastasia costumes, maybe next trying to re-make her orphan gear complete with scarf and hat. | |
