|This film has come up in conversation a few times recently, and so I decided to rewatch it. I FORGOT HOW UTTERLY AWESOME IT WAS!|
SOooooooo this, coupled with rereading the fairytale a few times has led me to wanting to cosplay this in the near future. It's a nice simple design so I may make it if I need a quick costume, or something to work on during uni.
Because the wig I'm using is a little darker than Thumbelina's hair, I'm going to use fabrics to match. So it'll look more like the DVD box art than in-movie colour-wise.
Shirt made from cotton jersey, sleeves stuffed with toy stuffing.
Corset made from duchess satin, using an adapted pattern.
Skirt made from bi-stretch (same as Ariel)
Forget-me-nots made from felt, with yellow fabric paint centres and sewn onto green lacing cord. They look delightfully rubbish and I don't even care XD
Worn at Amecon with SakuraHana as Cornelius. Please watch the video of us in the Omake! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwyiPqXNZPU (it wont embed)
Also worn at Midlands Expo 2013. It was great fun, other than that wearing ANYTHING that dangles (hair, capes etc) at an expo is asking for trouble. This is now soley a con cosplay.
To be worn at Ayacon 2013 as part of a non-Disney princess group!
Corset (Posted 16th July 2012)
Is done. Made from teal duchess satin :)
Shirt (Posted 3rd June 2012)
Despite my color scheme being more box-art-y, I've gone for more in-movie sleeves as they look cuter. The result is rubber-ring-arm-bands apparantly
Am quite happy with them, especially because if I get tired I have pillows on my shoulders to rest my head on XD
Skirt (Posted 9th May 2012)
Started on the skirt today. Juuuust had enough material to make a full circle. I intended to make it so it would be one piece, but not enough fabric to do that so there will just have to be two seams rather than one :c
Full circle skirts are the best. Swooooosh
14/5/12- finally finished hemming this darn thing. Must be at least 5 metres circumference :/ But so swoopy
Ponytail (Posted 6th May 2012)
Purchased a loooooong ponytail to match my wig so that I have crazy long hair :)
Oh word, why do I love the crazy long hair people
