| I absolutely adore Nausicaa, the film is one of my favourite films and the manga IS my favourite manga! There are two versions of Nausicaa that I hope to cosplay ^^ This version is going to take ages to make/buy all the pieces, I'm not planning a certain con for it I'll just wear it to the first con it's finished in time for!! I'm not 100% whether to follow the manga or film design with their slight differences, I guess I may just make some kind of mix costume and see how it goes! I really want to make her helmpiece, gun, sword and as many other things as I can :) I'd love suggestions for making this as I have no idea about most of it yet :P | |

Things... (Posted 30th March 2013) So I bought a wig and some leggings for this, turns out the leggings are way too thin (I had a feeling they might have been!) And the wig has a small amount of fake scalp showing (which I've never had before). The Leggings wont do at all so I need to find new ones, the wig however I've been reassured about so I'll keep that and hope for the best! |

Paper Mache (Posted 14th January 2013) So after I found all of the holes in the foam I decided to Paper Mache over the top. This has changed my overall plans for the helm as previously I was hoping to carve the details (such as the arrows) out of the foam, now I'm considering building them up out of cardboard and paper mache which is what I did with the detail on my Princess Mononoke mask (thanks to my friend Tedward for the advice ^^). |

Probably shouldn't be starting a costume right now... (Posted 6th January 2013) ...but I had expandable foam and wanted to try and make something with it, my boyfriend suggested that I used it to make the helm piece that you can see in my reference pics, so we went with it. |

Yay another Nausicaa! ^^ looking good so far, expanding foam does usually have holes in, which is why paper macheing over the surface is a good idea :) if it helps, I used white leggings off eBay for my Nausicaa <3
Thanks for the leggings tip, I bought the ones in my pictures but they're too thin and a bit see-through ¬____¬ the hunt for leggings continues :P and btw I really like your Nausicaa cosplay, looks great! I hope mine turns out half as nice :)

Thanks for much for the advice and don't worry that you don't have the listing I'm sure I can find something :P I was going to get horse riding leggings as they're thicker but they have funny seams so I wasn't sure!! My costume will take ages to get together but I've wanted to do it for so long that I can wait for as long as it takes!! I'm worried about messing this up :P will journal progress soon though ^^
