|Now this is a costume that is probably one of my most well known! It was made for a Valkyrie Profile 2 group at May Expo 2010, and I gotta say, it was fun to do! I like Lezard, his polite and sophisticated exterior betray his inner snotty-nosed geek personality, but he's an awesome villain, not to mention he has crazy magic and funny battle quotes.|
Possibly the component of his I am most proud of is his spellbook, which I made myself from scratch, on a whim, with no idea if it'd work. Fortunately it did; and I'm very proud of it! All that slaving away with tiny bits of rolled-up paper mache weren't for nothing! The concept of "what does Lezard's Spellbook actually contain?" was one I'm glad I pursued also! Filling the book with etches of naked Lenneth and illustrations of Brahms's hair being set on fire (courtesy of my mate) were hilarious!
The actual costume was made by my friend's grandmother, who used to be a wedding-dress maker (Thank you, without you this wouldn't have been possible!). Most fabrics were obtained from Shepherd's Bush Market, and I believe a bra clasp was recycled as part of the jacket's fastenings! The cape is held together by a horse bit, and the boots are knee-boots used for horse riding. The glasses were an old pair of my dad's with the lenses smashed out.
Wearing this was great fun! The group was awesome, and the costume even got into Cosplay Fever Red! I wore it to the book launch in Brick Lane, which was great too!
I'm definitely keeping hold of the costume for a possible future appearance. Hrist, your porter will rise again...someday!
