|Mithos, disco-tastic psycho badguy in disguise.|
Those of us who had done the Tales of Symphonia group at Aya '05 agreed that trying out a 'badguys' cosplay would be fun, so we did, and I ended up as the main villain, Mithos! Typical. This did however actually help me start to like him though, so it's always a good thing.
Unfortunately, the cosplay is awkward and painful.. the first time I wore it it was held together with safety pins in about 6 places, not fun at all.
The entire thing was made from scratch, apart from things like the boots and bracelets, so it was pretty tedious. While it looks awesome and is comfyish to wear, the fact half of it was kept together with safety pins (including the trousers, pain, much pain) made it a really bad cosplay. Trying to dance at the end of AmeCon disco/"ball" of '06 was VERY hard, especially since the pins kept coming loose and skewering me, ouch..
The top half is made of two parts - the main top, and then the smaller overjacket. The main top is unbelievably comfy, and I love the shape of it, but the overjacket was too big and kept flailing all over, even after pinning it to the main top to keep it in place. I also forgot the cord for the buttons right before leaving so I had to quickly make a new one on the morning of the con, blah.
The wig is great - very itchy, but great. It's perfect for Mithos aside for the lack of flicky antennae, but screw that, I've had enough trying to fix antennae into wigs!
The boots were only £20 in Garage shoes, which has now become a cosplay shoe shop to me, lol. The bracelets were £2 each in a sale in H&M I think - either way, they were found accidentally but worked just right.
Unfortunately, while I do like this cosplay, the fact it's uncomfortable to wear and highly unrecogniseable unless you're a ToS nerd makes it.. not one I'm likely to rewear.
