Description
Haruhi Suzumiya, I watched the first 3 episodes and wanted to cosplay her! Fortunately, literally just as the series had ended, I was jetting off to Japan and found the perfect cosplay for a little under 20,000 yen including an armband, snapping it up in a second and then taking it home with me!

Cosplaying Haruhi a few months after the series had aired was a fun experience. While it's a lot more popular with cosplayers now, I was one of two Haruhis at AmeCon, and it was really fun playing up to it for an entire day. Shame it's done to death now though.

Despite the fact I don't like wearing bought cosplays, this is definately my favourite cosplay and I love wearing it - Haruhi's such a great character, the uniform is comfy, and it's always a winner.
When I bought it it was a teeny bit tight around my waist, but I've lost a little bit of weight since then so now it's perfect. The belt was also a bit iffy though, but after adding a couple of small poppers where the belt needs to be held works wonders and stops me from looking so dang messy.

The armband(s) are from COSPA at around £8 each, and are much better than the cheap ones you get with the American DVDs - they're made of leatherette, have the text printed clearly, and look damn awesome. Unfortunately they don't make a "Ultra Detective" armband yet, but oh well, "Brigade Leader" and "Super Director" will have to do ;)

The only thing I don't like is the hairband I got with the outfit, while it does the job it's always looked messy to me, I think the ribbons are too thick. Thankfully I got another new one when I was in Japan, hehe ;)

I adore this costume, and if it weren't for the fact everyone and their granny seems to be cosplaying Haruhi, I'd wear it more often (though that said I've been Haruhi for 3 conventions running now). It's always a great fall-back cosplay, too, so I dunno, I might be appearing as Haruhi again sometime ;)
