| I'm a big fan of Speed Racer and, as I had never seen anyone at a UK event cosplay as him before, thought it would be a good choice for my cosplay. I wore it at Amecon 2008 and it was great fun! My friend Arkayen cosplayed as Trixie Racer, although we didn't get any pics of us together >< Still, look her up on her and you will pics of Trixie. As this was my first cosplay and I have no experience of making clothes at all, most of this was just bought. The helmet I had to import from America and cost £35! I wore cricket trousers, a cheap royal blue t-shirt over a white polo shirt and the lucky red socks (they were hockey socks). The yellow 'G' on the t-shirt was sewn on by my friend Arkayen. Oh and also I wore yellow leather driving gloves which I bought from eBay. Also I did buy a pair of Speed Racer trainers a few months before which I wore with the costume, you can see the trainers here: http://www.animetion.co.uk/Reviews/merch/srtrainers(tom).htm - I do have a pair of more traditional shoes I can wear with the cosplay though. | |
