|I love Colette a lot! And this is the year I finally cosplay her. I can't bear to see her at the bottom of my 'planned' list any longer!|
Hopefully for ToS groups at May Expo and Kitacon!
IT'S FINALLY DONE OH MY GOD
What a learning curve! I'm really glad I didn't attempt this any earlier because it was so deceptively complex! Exelia was really kind and showed me her pattern so I could get an idea for the different shapes. It was so helpful <3
I chose a pale blue cotton because in the Gamecube version and on the statues, her dress is definitely not stark white but has a blueish tinge to it to me. I chose a dark cloud blue for the details and lining. I cut the lining much wider than the dress to do the contrast edges, because screw bias binding!
Again, thanks to Exelia for her pattern, it helped me so much working out the shapes. Like the dress, I cut the lining bigger and folded it around the edges for the borders. It was my first time using proper interfacing for more than just a collar, and I'm hooked (I usually just use an extra layer of fabric)! It attaches to the front of the dress and has a hook and eye
Bought some £6 boots off eBay and covered them in jersey. The blue doesn't quite match...
More detailed explanation in my journal, but it's a foam base covered in worbla. The gemstone is 'translucent' clay, and is attached to the choker with milliput.
I bought two frisbees from Wilkinson's and painted them with some thick enamel gold paint designed for heavy wear and tear. I just hope it doesn't rub off on my hands on the day!

Nearly there! (Posted 10th May 2015)
Quick shot of the dress/overshirt together! I'm pretty proud of getting through this bias binding hell haha
Going to give this one heck of an iron once all the detail is stitched in place...

It still looks like a frog! I finally got around to covering the base in worbla today and I'm happy with how it turned out. My inexperience with the material kind of shows, especially in the loss of detail in the shape, but for my second attempt at the stuff, I didn't do THAT badly! Maybe when I've improved, I'll try again c:
Going to play with some translucent clay for the gem!
Boots (Posted 5th May 2015)
After much frustration, they're 99% done!

The base choker is done! I made about 6 paper templates until I had one I was happy with, then I made the base choker out of craft foam. I have all the worbla pieces cut and ready, but I think I'm going to wait until I've made the gem before I do that! In the very least I may need some help shaping it around my neck...
