| Right. I considered updating the original Skeksil page, but I felt that what I'm doing would take away from the original state of the costume. After Expo I was really pleased, and totally dissatisfied at the same time. Pleased that my work on Skekkie to that point had earned me the place in the finals, dissatisfied that it didn't look nearly as good as I'd wanted it to. So, I started upgrading the bugger. Here be the progress... [Update, 02 Nov 2011] Er... wow! I won Euro Cosplay! I already said it on stage, but I'll say it again here. Thanks to Karen, Emma, my folks at home, Ku and Sal, everyone who encouraged me to complete the project (and take it on in the first place), thanks to all the people who cheered me on, and thanks to all the people who were there to watch, because without you, there would have been no point in entering. **Icon Illustrated by Sonia Leong, Gifted by Karen "FatKraken" Dawson.** | |

OH MY! What sexy clay you have!!!
It's WED clay. Very nice stuff, if a little trickier to mould than oil based clays. I'll probably be using it more often now though on big stuff, because it's eyepoppingly cheaper than Chavant. (about 1/6 the price, haha)
It's sort of a regular water clay that has a glycerine additive which makes it easier to wet out. The beauty of it is you can smooth it to an almost mirror shine with just water, which was perfect for making a shell-like sculpt.
OMG! Absolutely Brilliant.
Good luck at the finals! It's looking good. The fibre from the fibreglass actually makes it look like it's been taken off an animal.

Working with fiber glass is beyond difficult, to get decent results is another thing...

I'm just speechless in regards to your craftmanship but I love you for picking this character. You can't beat the old 80's kids films and Dark Crystal is one of my favourites. I'm still holding out for someone to cosplay one of the creatures from The Neverending Story but thats... well, another story (I've always thought Karen would make a great luck dragon though!)
