Description
Zelos was always my favourite character in Tales of Symphonia, even if he was an awful fighter, a jackass and a damn bad pimp. Nevertheless, he was a fun cosplay!

Considering he was my first cosplay ever, it's a pretty weird first cosplay if I'm honest.. firstly I'm a girl and secondly I'm nothing like Zelos. But I was determined to get it done and sorted, so after recruiting my mum, sister, aunt and uncle we started work ;)

A lot of this was bought, thankfully - the wig, black top, basic belt, pants, shoes, black gloves, and hairband were all easily found. Most of it was perfect for what I needed, especially the amazingly Zelosish wig, even though it was damn itchy.

The jacket is made of really heavy fabric, meant to be used for curtains, but it was the only stuff I found the right colours in that didn't cost a bomb and that hung right as a jacket rather than being flimsy. It's completely lined and then edged with goldish ribbon and looks perfect, despite the armholes being huge.
The "buttons"/toggles are awesome too, my somewhat evil uncle is a wood turner and had no problem making them. They're a little heavy but they look awesome and as close as I could get to the references I had.

The belt was easy to make - my mum had an old white belt she never used, so I got some leatherette, cut it to shape, tacked it and then sewed it into a set of 2 covers, one for each side of the buckle. Slipped them on and voila, Zelos belt!

The gloves were evil - pure evil - trying to sew a wiggly cover for a set of gloves isn't fun, so I ended up with straight patches of pink and gold and then just added the buttons on top of a pair of cheap black costume gloved. They were itchy and inaccurate so I kept taking them off during the day, and I still hate those things.

Aside from problems with heat and irritation, I really love this costume, especially since it was my first that started everything off - it's a shame I'm not likely to ever rewear it.
