|Time Taken :||Couple of weeks on and off.|
|Originally I wanted to make this for Hyper Japan but I kinda ran out of time and I messed up my original attempt at making the skirt. So plans changed for Ayacon.|
Unfortunately the first skirt I made was WAY too short. Sure it looked fine at the front but I had to make another and with a week to go until the con, I had to sacrifice a bit of accuracy. Luckily the fabric I bought was quite a close match and all this practice of making pleated skirts came in handy.
Top however was easier to work out. Apart from making it a bit too short (I adapted the top from a dress bodice pattern so I honestly should have made it a bit longer) it worked out alright. Though making ALL those blooming triangles was a pain and a half...and then sewing them on. Never again. Not only did you get loose thread hell, they also liked to slip. Which was annoying. I think I sewn some parts about two or three times before I got them sewn in. And even then some were barely sewn on. Making the sleeves were stupidly fun as well, though I flared them out a bit more from the original pattern (Simplicity 2827). Thankfully this costume was a lot cooler though I didn't make it out of coat material.
I was originally going to wear this for the Sunday of Ayacon but since my Saturday costume a bit too hot I changed into this on the Saturday afternoon. I was also wearing this to help at the masquerade at Ayacon. Now that was fun.
Kyubey plush was bought off of Hobby Search and he's probably the best prop ever. People either hugged him, put him on their head or just punched him.
Wearing at Kitacon for Madoka shoot. Kyubey being whacked-OH SO VERY LIKELY.
