| I really want to do the live action version of Sailor Moon as I think the pink in her outfit suits her more than the red used for the anime. Also she's so kawaii! x3 Hopefully to be completed for some time in 2012 To go with Royster's Zoisite! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~Please see my journals for more details on the construction of this costume as well as progress photos~ The fuku I plan to make myself. Eeepp. To make the task easier (and so I feel more secure in the costume) I'm using a leotard as a base. Making that from scratch just sounded tricky and I fear stitches tearing etc ^^' After having issues with a seller on ebay I ended up getting the leotard from Topshop of all places! (Thanks for the tip street-angel!)I shall find a cotton lycra material as close to the leotard material as possible to make the hip roll using Ranma 1-2's tutorial: http://www.cosplay.com/showpost.php?p=3275852&postcount=3169 I shall use my Sailor Jupiter collar as a sort of pattern for making Moon's one and I'm not sure how I'm going about the skirt yet, I shall prob have to look up a tutorial or find someone to help. Same with the bows. As for the "chest armour" that the Live Action versions have I have got a roll of white neoprene material to make it from. It's light and flexible so hopefully should be easy to work with. The glove rolls I made using Ranma 1-2's tutorial (see journal). I bought hot pink GoGo boots (made by Smiffy's I think)off ebay and altered the tops myself (see journal). I originally had a wig commissioned by Sephwigs (see Usagi cosplay) but I've decided it's not quite right for the Live Action version as the buns need to be bigger and more natural looking. I shall be using Seph's styled wig for anime versions of Usagi/ Sailor Moon though =)I have ordered a new wig from ebay after very carefully checking feedback and knowing someone else had brought from that seller. I hope it's okay... I brought the Tiara from Catzia's Collectables as I was pleased with my Jupiter one from her. The PGSM one has the little moons in it and everything! She normally makes them with a pale pink gem but I requested the hot pink one and she happily made one for me. Also got a toy cell phone similar to the ones used in the series and some 3D crescent moons to add to her choker and boots. Some time after getting all that lot she added PGSM earrings to her cosplay page and they looked really good so went and ordered those also XD I brought the Odango gems and the choker charm from Southern Moon Creations. I already have the moon wand and broach which I brought off ebay last year. They both light up and play music haha XD The broach even comes with the little lipstick Usagi uses in her transformation scene. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | |

Boot tops (Posted 2nd August 2010) Note: The flash kills the colour of the boots. I was originally going to buy the boots with the tops already altered from Catzia's Collectables but thought it would be easy to do myself and would save a little money. Now in some ways I wish I had bought them lol but at the same time I'm pleased I did the work myself. I spent a long time fiddling with a boot and a bit of white PVC pondering how exactly to do it. I wanted to try and angle the stripe so I wouldn't have the cut the boot but I would of achieved a better looking result if I did cut the boot- so cut it I did. Had mild panic of destroying boot while did so lol I "lined" where I cut the boot with some the of the PVC to try and prevent the material tearing and so none of the pink would show at the top (not shown in photo). The stripe itself was super-glued onto the boot at an angle with a little bit over-lapping the zip. Then I added velcro to the tab over the zip to keep it in place so whilst wearing the boots the white line is complete around the top but I can remove the bit over the zip to get the boots off. Sadly when working on the 2nd boot I completely forgot to leave the bit over-lapping the zip and so had to glue a separate piece of PVC on doh >_< The pointed top was created by 2 pieces of PVC over-lapping and then the edges trimmed. The 3D moon was then super-glued straight onto the boot/PVC. Overall I achieved the desired look but just a little un-happy with the bumps in the PVC, the forgotten zip tab on the 2nd boot and I think I cut one more than the other... But hey ho. |

New wig (Posted 27th July 2010) My new wig arrived today, I bought it about a week and a half ago so it was quick delivery. But I was disappointed as soon as I got it out of the box... It looked more light brown than blonde to me. I tried not to panic thinking maybe if I looked at it in a better light it would be fine. But the lightest it appears is a dark golden blonde, not the honey blonde as the photos show. I took photos with and without camera flash so the seller can't sell me that crap, I shall be complaining. I am just so disappointed as in general the style is good and I made sure that seller (ebay) was the only one using those photos and another Sailor Moon cosplayer told me she brought the same wig and hers looks a lot blonder than mine. EDIT: Contacted seller who tried to say it was the lighting yada yada but gave me a $10 refund anyway. Then they updated their listing (mentioning me!) with new photos to show the true colour referencing. In my opinion it's not the same wig as the photos on the manequin but at least they've put some accurate photos up. Without the flash on the wig in the bag does look rather brown when I'm looking at it under my bedroom light. But as you can see it's a dark golden blonde. |

Glove top progress 2 (Posted 26th July 2010) Now I had my 3 tubes attached to each other I had to sew the ends together to make the circle. Again I had left around half inch tabs of spare material at the ends to make this easier. The gloves took me around 8 hours in total to make ^^' Bear in mind they were completely hand-sewn and there was trial and error along the way but I'm really pleased with how they turned out =) I watched PGSM whilst making these to keep myself motivated and so I could reference check the costume lol |

Glove top progress (Posted 25th July 2010) I made the glove tops using Ranma 1-2's tutorial: http://www.cosplay.com/showpost.php?p=3275852&postcount=3169 Using foam left over from my Jill shoulder pads I rolled rectangle pieces into tubes and sewed them shut. I covered the rolls with the pink PVC and sealed them with a straight seam then I trimmed the excess material off leaving around half inch from the seam. These half inch "tabs" were then used to help me sew the 3 tubes together. |
