Costume Information

I'm sitting here watching Sleeping Beauty whilst I pack for Ayacon tomorrow and it's spurned my desire to cosplay Maleficent. I've wanted to cosplay her for a while just because she's so epic! I'm worried about her headwear but I really love her power, her evilness and just everything! I mean let's face it! The woman's a real dragon xD

Also due to Fusionrose's current obsession with Briar Rose I will jump on board and when she cosplays either the pink or blue dress I shall be the one trying to kill her =D

Now with this cosplay I have decided, that I shall not be editing anything, or commissioning it or finding a place to buy it. I will be making it from scratch! I don't know how. I don't know when. But I want it to be massive and epic. I want her head gear, her crow, and her staff xD I have a feeling it shall be one expensive project! And probably really far out of my league. But I shall plan my head off more than I've ever planned before!

Expect this to be on my CI for a VERY long time XD

- Moving into progress coz I wanna start work on it!! :D

- My material arrived yesterday and it's perfect! It's stretchy so I can hopefully pop my head in it easily. and it'll make the horns look sharp. I'm looking around experimenting with what the best material may be for the base. At first I was thinking wire but then I don't know if I'd get the point sharp enough. So I'm going to spend this weekend exploring the possibilities!!

- I dont think I'll be able to get this done for May as I havent even started yet and I've set myself quite a challenge with my Kitacon cosplays. I'll be looking into this after Kitacon and see when I want to do it for =]

I love the idea of scaled fabric! One option for the horn construction could be a cardboard base on an Alice band, add expanding foam and then carve to the appropriate shape. Cover in air dry clay, modroc or paper mache. Finally make a 'glove' out of the scaled fabric to fit over the top of the horns and around your head.

He he. I follow Kamui as well. It's amazing the number of uses I've found for expanding foam since reading her blog!

Aw hell yeah. I like how you're working her dragon form in there subtly with the scaled material. Best of luck with this, it's going to be awesome!

Well, I saw this and couldn't resist! I know you can't see the texture of her head dress but I've decided to use this scaled material as I want to bring the essence of her dragon form into her human form! I've still got to deicde how I'm going to make it but hopefully this'll make it look gooood!
