| Ocarina of time is my favourite video game of all time - a magical and epic adventure that captured my imagination and has continued to be an inspiration to me. Malon was always my favourite of all the girls in OoT which is why I have decided to cosplay her now. I have put off making this costume until now because I wanted to greatly improve my sewing and sculpting skills before attempting this cosplay to ensure that it turns out really good. There are several components to the costume that I am making/buying... Top - Although I could get away with using a plain white t-shirt for this and adding on the sleeve patterns I have decided to make the whole top from scratch because it will be fairly simple to make and I can get the finer details perfect. Skirt - The skirt is a simple midi-length skirt and I have bought a sewing pattern that is perfect. Apron - I will be painting on the symbols on the apron by hand with fabric paint and have already sketched out the design using the new 3DS Ocarina of Time game as the graphics are much improved and it is easier to see the details. Triforce Belt Buckle - I will be making this from Craft Foam and metallic paint and again from metallic polymer clay and whichever turns out the best/strongest/most accurate I will use. Bowser Badge - I am going to sculpt this from gold polymer clay. Neck Scarf - Simple, no pattern needed. Boots - I have bought some brown riding boots because I would not be able to make these well enough myself. Wig - I have bought a long orange wig that I will be cutting and styling myself. Other Malon cosplays I have seen seem to have darker prange wigs but I have opted for a lighter and brighter orange because this is more accurate to her hair colour in the game. I think the hardest part is going to be the design on the apron although I doubt that will be too difficult. The whole project should be fairly simple. | |
