|I secretly fell in love with MLP:FIM early in 2011, and when Sisceal revealed she had started watching it, it didn't take long before we were talking about somehow cosplaying characters from it - Sisceal soon designed some gijinka versions of the Mane Six which I really loved, so I pulled some some inspiration for this from her drawings. She chose to cosplay Twilight Sparkle, and I chose Fluttershy because she's my favourite <3 I can relate to her as well - I’m extremely shy, very quiet and afraid of a lot of silly things. But I love animals! :) Also, I’ve been told I’m terrifying when I’m angry, lmao. After that, we signed MadameLapin up as our Pinkie Pie and CrazedTeensie as our Rainbow Dash! <3|
I made the dress from pale yellow polycotton, but I used two layers of it because one layer on its own was a little bit see-through. The gathered trim is also yellow polycotton (although it's only one layer because it didn't matter as much there), and for decoration, I hand-sewed pink ribbon under the bust and around the top of the gathered trim. The sleeves are pink polycotton and I included elastic to make them poofy, and they also have pink ribbon for decoration as well. Finally, I made Fluttershy's cutie mark out of pink and blue felt, and blanket-stitched it onto the front of the dress for extra cute!
The necklace is made out of pink craft foam, and I cut it out so it would be the same shape as the gem in Fluttershy's Elements of Harmony necklace. I then glued blue gems onto it in the shape of the butterfly's body, so that it looked like part of her cutie mark as well. I strung it on a piece of black cord I had in my sewing box after that.
I made the hairclip out of blue and brown craft foam, then glued it onto a spare hairclip that I already had. It was a five minute job, but I really like the way it turned out! I chose to make the butterfly blue because A. I felt a pink butterfly would be lost in her pink hair, and also B. Sisceal included a blue butterfly hairclip in her design.
The shoes are just a pair of pink wedge sandals that I have had for years, but they are super comfy so I love them! As for the wig, I had planned to use my old Simca wig, but it was too tatty to use (despite the fact that it had been kept in its bag while not in use) so Sisceal very kindly leant me a pink wig she owned.
I'm really happy with the way my Fluttershy costume has turned out, and I can't wait to cosplay with my fellow ponies! <3

Progress (Posted 11th March 2012)
My dress now has its gathered trim sewn on, as well as the ribbon and the cutie mark. All I need to do now is make and add the sleeves, then it'll be complete.
I've also made my necklace :) After a discussion with Sisceal last night, I decided to make the base butterfly shape out of pink craft foam, and it's in the same shape as the jewel in Fluttershy's Elements of Harmony necklace. After that, I added blue gems for the butterfly's body, so it kinda looks like her cutie mark too!
Now for the hairclip...
To elaborate further... (Posted 29th February 2012)
For the hem of my skirt, I decided I wanted to include a bit of gathering, because I thought it'd look cute. "A bit" soon turned into just under 3.5 metres of polycotton strips being gathered... e__e I told myself after Belle that I wouldn't do any more gathering. Looks like I was wrong!

Gathering. I hate it.

Somehow, whenever I go to the fabric store, I always forget to buy a zip if I need one...and of course, I forgot to buy one for Fluttershy when I bought my fabric the other day. So yesterday I did everything I could on the dress without a zip, and I've just come home from a zip-buying mission so that I can carry on today :)
*deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath* Yay (Posted 27th February 2012)
Fluttershy is officially in progess! I've just cut my fabric out for the dress, so now I'm gonna move on to sewing it all together.
Yay, woo, you rock (Posted 26th February 2012)
I bought my fabric for Fluttershy today! :) I'm quite happy with what I got, although I didn't get anything for the wings because I was in a bit of a rush. But now I have what I need to start the dress, at least :D
