| I wanted to do a costume from Castlevania for the Grand Cosplay Ball and I liked the look of this one, partly because I don't have to wear a blonde wig! Also, the company I work for are having a ball in October so ideally I would like to get it ready in time for that - it makes sense to wear the same dress to both events, especially if I've gone to the effort of making it! However, none of the other Castlevania outfits would be suitable for that ball so that was another reason for choosing this one. Wish me luck! Update, 03 Oct 08: The works ball was cancelled unfortunately - but the bright side of that is that thankfully I get a bit more time to make this (phew). Update, 02 Dec 08: I loved wearing this costume - it was so comfortable. Even the hair buns which had been tricky to keep in place! And I received many compliments at the Grand Cosplay Ball which was lovely. | |

26 Nov 08 (Posted 27th November 2008) I now have my hair buns back from Miiol (thank you hun!) so now I'm entwining them with beads as per Sara's hair. It's not an easy task because apart from spending ages cording the beads together, the hair is tightly wound which means the beads don't actually fit through it. Because of that, I'm having to measure not just how much length I need to wrap around the bun, but also how much cord I need left empty so I can feed it through the hair. Quite confusing. But I'll get there. |

24 Nov 08 (Posted 27th November 2008) I have now sewn lace to the end of her sleeves to match her skirt, which means the skirt and top are both 100% complete! Crikey! And so soon before an event, what's wrong with me?! |
|
23 Nov 08 (Posted 23rd November 2008) I have now sewn lace onto Sara's top to resemble the detail at the front so the top is almost complete except for some work on the cuffs/hands - and I need to tie the ends of the ribbon off but that can't be done just yet. But I'm getting there! I also now have a posy and a circlet. I have yet to make the strings of pearls to go into her hair but they can't be done until the doughnuts are done - for which I am cheating by using part of a Princess Leia wig which Miiol is kindly cutting up and styling for me =^_^= |

16 Nov 08 (Posted 17th November 2008) Sara's skirt is 100% complete. Finito. Done! YAY! It looks very elegant and I'm very pleased with it *grins* I've still got quite a bit to do on the rest of the costume though. The edging has all been done on the top, and buttons and clasps have been added as required - although dippy me conked it up slightly so I have to pick part of it out and make amendments. Dozey Kitten! I have yet to start on her posy and her circlet - and I have to make strings of pearls for the doughnuts in her hair. *realisation dawns* I hope I get it all done in time! |
|
29 Oct 08 (Posted 29th October 2008) The trim on Sara's top is not easy, especially as I'm not confident enough to do such an intricate piece on the sewing machine, so I'm having to sew it all by hand - which wouldn't normally be a problem except that I have a sore neck which prevents me sewing for long periods of time. I also found some perfect colour/sized poppies and some lovely blue cornflowers (and the perfect sized hoop) so I can finally make a start on her posy :-) No Leena - one thing at a time ... ! |
|
07 Oct 08 (Posted 29th October 2008) Sara's top is almost complete - it has a collar, sleeves and sleeve ruffles on it now. Still needs to have a trim put on it, and much decoration, including buttons, etc. but the basics are almost done. Yay! |
|
22 Sep 08 (Posted 29th October 2008) Well after gentle persuasion, it seems the sewing machine was willing to help me at the weekend. However, my first attempt at making the blue top went belly up. Hopefully should be able to fix it rather than cut out a new shape (which had to be done from a combination of three different patterns!) so fingers Xed that it can be fixed. |

08 Sep 08 (Posted 29th October 2008) I am now the proud owner of 5 metres of ivory satin and 2 metres of stunning blue satin. Now to make friends with the sewing machine ... |

Oh wow, what a pretty design! You'll look stunning in this ^_^
Thanks Odango.
I must be a sucker for punishment ... I had so (sew?) much trouble sewing satin for Seung Mina's costume - and I'm looking at using satin for this one.
Maybe I should just give up now ... =ó_ò=
