| A friend forced me to start watching Avatar, and I just loved the blue and white outfits that katara wears. I decided to make this, the generic mild weather outfit, though the details are most like her season 2 outfit (I think - will have to check). I thought that finding the right blue would be difficult, but the fabric shop near me happened to have a pretty close match. I could get away with using my natural hair, and some basic grey boots sufficed for the shoes. All in all, this was a very simple costume to make. Probably the hardest part of the costume was the necklace, which does have the proper engravings, and the white edge around the neck - this was my first time doing edging. This helped teach me how to edge clothing of different shapes - useful for many anime costumes. Wore this down a beach with a friend (Brinny-chan, who dressed as Light Yagami). I got some very odd looks, but the costume was fun and comfy - shame that the wind caused a few...annoyances. Piccies will be up asap. | |
