Costume Information

Description
I have to cosplay from this game. And cosidering the Mage is my favorite class, it was going to be Mage Hawke.

Probably not default Hawke, as I'm not a big fan of her appearance, so it'll probably be one of my custom Hawkes with the blood stain across the nose.

HOPEFULLY for next May.

I'm going to try and make the staff: Malcolm's Bequest which you receive from a dlc for mages. :B

Anyone wanna be Carver so I can bully them?
Or Fenris? >:D

This group is hopefully going to be for May Expo (and I'll obviously rewear Hawke if it survives Expo at the summer con).
Our group currently consists of:
Two Hawkes
Anders
Sebastian
Fenris
Isabela
Aveline
And possible Varric

:D Epic group will be freaking epic!

My man and I hope to attend the May Expo as Morrigan and Zevran!

Mayhaps we could add ourselves to your ensemble?

Jeggings (Posted 24th June 2011)

Informed by Amy that a website called Uniqlo do these jeggings in black. I normally don't like jeggings but they give the denim appearance of Hawke's trousers without being denim or having the fly to contend with. So these are a possibility.

I can't actually start this costume until I'm moved into a new place so at the moment I'm just accumulating all the information I can.

Chain mail (Posted 24th June 2011)

Initially I was going to invest into knitting actually metal chain mail for the segments of the costume that are so.
But I discovered its possible to have fake chain mail by knitting wool together and spray painting it.
It'll obviously need to look aged, but knitting it with wool will be more cost effective for me, and also lighter so I can actually move my arms.

Bases (Posted 24th June 2011)

Through twitter conversations with Odango-chan and Amy I have established what Hawke's base clothes will be made of. YAY.
I've seen a lot of people use denim jeans for the trousers, which is fine and a cheap method (just buy a cheap pair of jeans from primark) but considering I don't want to die of heat... and jeans don't exist in the tie of Dragon Age, I don't want to go that way.

So I'm going to use a coarse-look linen for the trousers and top, lined with cotton to stop it wrinkling too much.
Then for the front panel where Hawke's ... neck armor, I guess, is I'm going to try and find some kind of cheap soft leather and enforce it with interfacing or buckram so its sturdy.

Big project ahoy (Posted 23rd June 2011)

I can just tell how much of a project this is going to be because of all the different aspects.
I've already figured I'm going to need crap loads of cardboard and craft foam for the armor. Which is fine.
But I'm going to need to learn how to paint the armor so it looks weathered.
Also I want to try my hand at making the chain mail segments seen on Hawke's arms, the small sleeves she has.

I also REALLY want to make the staff do something. Like have a switch on it which will make it spark fire for a second. Because I think it will just be awesome. :]

Going to need so much help on this. Seriously all other projects, unless they're really simple, are on hold. This is my main priority.
