| I made this costume from converting a shirt into a coat by removing the pocket (and ironing to completely cover up thread holes) then sewing 3 large pieces of fabric to the bottom to get it down to my ankles and fold in 3 ways like I wanted it to. The tie was just made from a ribbon that was looped round my neck a few times and tied like a shoelace. The wings were made by loosely following the paperwings guide and using plastic coated coat-hanger wire as the main frame and cutting felt into the shape of the frame and sewing it together. The feathers were stuck on with hot glue and all the wings and wire were held together with good old reliable ducktape. The wings were held on by elastic straps that went through my belt loops and slits in the coat. So they worked as both wing straps and suspenders. The hardest part of the costume was getting the wings to sit correctly. They were often uncomfortable at times. The easy part was the making of the coat itself. In future I plan on making better quality wings though. | |
