| ***SOMEWHAT RETIRED*** As soon as I saw episode 4 of Madoka Magica, I was practically sold on doing this costume. Then I grew pretty attached to Sayaka's character and it was a 'I must cosplay this' Though partly I wanted to make a cosplay with a cape and a sword. This costume's pretty much hand-made except for the gloves which I altered and the wig I just cut. Some things I think came out rather well-I'm particularly proud of the sword (and there I was thinking I was no good at making 3D things) I've made some alterations since I've first worn it. I've made new boot covers, decided to just get socks which I don't have to pull up every five minutes, I've fixed up some of the outfit so it fits me a lot better and I've made another couple of swords. One broke and one is surprisingly sturdy though it needs to be finished. It's amazing what a couple of planks of wood and nails can do. But still, it's a really fun costume to wear. I've re-worn it since then and there's a good chance I'll re-wear it again. Thoguh my boot covers need fixing. And the sword needs a new coat of paint. Worn at MCM Expo May 2011 (Saturday), Brighton Japan (Asahi Anime in which I entered the masquerade and flubbed up spectacularly.) Hyper Japan 2011 (Saturday), Ayacon 2011 (Friday afternoon onwards and Sunday), MCM Expo October 2011 Saturday and Sunday and Minamicon 18 Saturday. I think it's fair to say this costume I getting a rest now even if being Sayaka's pretty fun. | |
