| Worn to: - Midlands MCM Expo 13th September 2008 I love Yoshitaka Amano's artwork, and think that his drawings of Aerith are especially beautiful. I've wanted to do this costume for quite a while, now, and after finding the perfect material in the fabric shop (although I was looking for material for my Crisis Core Aerith cosplay!), I snapped it up instantly. After a crisis of "oh crap, I haven't got enough of this fabric!!", I managed to resolve it by using another large piece that I found when I got home. :) I really enjoyed working on this costume; I wanted it to be rather elegant and so that's why I used posh-looking material. Normally, the pink satin would have been £10.21 a metre, but it was on sale and I was able to pay a lot less for it! :D I was told that satin is a bitch to work with, but I found that it glided through my machine perfectly and I am so happy with how it turned out. <3 The red velvet was also lovely to work with, although I had to ask my mother for help with the sleeves, as I wasn't sure how to make them poofy. Fortunately, she's an experienced seamstress, so she helped me with them and they were finished rather quickly. ^_^ The beading work was a lot easier than it looks; some of it was bought from the shop for me to sew on, and so of the beads and sequins were ones that I had lying around at home. The bracelets were bought (I would have liked to have made my own, but I ran out of time and I thought these were rather suitable, and the wig and necklace were the same that I've used for my other Aeris costumes. The shoes were a pair that I bought ages and ages ago for the sole purpose of doing this cosplay; when I saw them, I knew they were suitable and just had to have them! Finally, I made the matching bag out of some left over satin. I thought that if I wore this dress and carried around a satchel like I normally do, I'd look rather...silly. So, I decided to make the bag for my phone and purse, and other convention essentials! | |
