| 18.11.11: Please feel free to ask if you'd like any information on the construction of this cosplay. If I wrote the process up here it would be a very long essay and so I am abstaining for now. At some point in the future I'd like to write up the progress in blog form and if I do so I will link to here. ----- I'm aiming for October London Expo 2011 as this cosplay can only be transported to an Expo. Sorry for the sparse journal entries. I'm keeping a lot of this under my hat until Expo. Not to mention I keep coming up with new ideas for how to do things! This will be entered into the masquerade though as others were speedier than me I'm going to have to get in there quick on Sunday. 30.10.11: finally it's over. There were some breakages and emergency repairs but frankly I'm just glad to see the back of this thing for now. It hurt so much to wear. All the weight of the head was carried by a strap across my lower back. I'd like to thank Odagochan for looking after me. You helped me keep it together back stage and you made sure I didn't walk off the stage. I have it on good authority that it looked like you were guiding me and not holding the gun in place because of mechanism failure :P. I loved finally getting to meet you and I look forward to learning more from you. | |

I don't want to jinx anything but... (Posted 29th October 2011) I don't want to jinx anything but I think this Monster is read to roll on Sunday! It's been a year in the making and I can finally see the light. |
|
So it goes (Posted 26th October 2011) Gloves complete. Sewing them bu hand was a bore but alas my machine couldn't cope with such narrow seam allowances. Socks are complete and I love them so much. I might have to make myself some slippers from the pattern. All rivet details are complete bar a couple of odd ones which i need to create from craft foam, sand a cranny to embed them and then glue them in place. Stirrups have been added to the bodysuit To Do: |
|
The final straight (Posted 25th October 2011) I just have some paintwork left to do as well as some rivet detailing on this Beast. My gloves are almost finished. Tonight I shall complete them and make socks. |
|
This Beast is killing me (Posted 21st October 2011) This Beast is killing me but it will be done in time. The inner body suit is well on its way to completion. The helmet is done, the wiring is complete. I have some more painting sewing and construction to do. I get home from work in the evenings and work on this until I go to bed everyday. Sleep hours are becoming fewer. I'm busy at work too and so haven't been able to take any time off. A friend is staying with me at the moment and he started playig MGS4 again. He has been Snake the Paparazzi and has spent ages in the Frozen Tundra taking pictures of Crying WOlf from all angles. On the plus side, I can see a lot of details. On the down side, I can see a lot of details... |
|
Railgun - Step 4 (Posted 17th September 2011) Lights XP. Battery powered multifunctional fairy lights threaded through the gun. |
|
Railgun - Step 3 (Posted 17th September 2011) Sanding, Priming, more sanding, more priming, painting. |
|
Railgun - Step 2 (Posted 11th September 2011) 4 hours and almost 250ml of Impakt glue later... EVA foamto add bulk and stiffness and basic detailing. Some stiff cardboard as an underayer, again for stiffness. |
|
Hind legs 2 (Posted 10th September 2011) The progress on the hind legs and a view from above of the hind feet. |
|
Werewolf (Posted 10th September 2011) I had to handpaint the Werewolf symbol onto both shoulders. I'm rather pleased with how they came out. |
|
Railgun - Step 1 (Posted 10th September 2011) There's a long way to go with the gun. I just hope I can pull off my first attempt at making a gun prop. So far this is a layer of 1" thick insulation foam. |
|
Hind legs 1 (Posted 3rd August 2011) Started putting together the components for the hind legs at the weekend. I didn't get as far along as I'd hoped as I was struck down with gastroenteritis but the idea is there. It is logistically impossible to be 100% accurate to Crying Wolf's proportions, at least at my level of ability, but I'm doing my best. |
|
Etching (Posted 3rd June 2011) Etching, etching, etching all the grooves into the armour with a pen and a pin and an Xacto blade. The front legs are proving the msot difficult as they were the first part constructed and as such as made from a different material to the rest (a softer foam which required reinforcing with decorator's caulk which I only later contemplated would be difficult to scrape away). We shall see. |

That looks very interesting! One of the Beast unit from MGS4 comes to mind, but I'm probably wrong. :D Can't wait to see where you go from here. :3
FFx-2 Rikkus special dressphere? the body looks like the machina she rides?
Hmm I wanna say a shiva sister xD or a big sister XD Some machinery :D this looks really interesting! x
The legs/feet looking part reminds me of a gekko from MGS4 xD
I'm guessing Rikku's ultimate dress-sphere? Looks like Machina
Obv crying wolf
A few of you came close, but Sora-kun guessed correctly *hands over virtual cookie*. Who knows when this will be finished. It's already been in progress for 6 months and that's not including the time spent planning, though it is further along than the uploaded images.
this looks awesome
this is lookin brilliant, hoping to do akiba for october, would be great to get pictures =]]
I'll do my best to get it done! XD Expo is probably the only event I can take it to as it's the only one driveable from where I'm based. No way could I carry this up on the train.
Your progress is looking seriously impressive! It's pretty unlikely that I'll be wearing Laughing Octopus at an Expo as transporting it would be far too difficult, but I'd be interested in setting up a photoshoot with you!
Girl..... You're crazy... and I'm loving it! Keep it up! :D
when this be worn, i need to take out my liquid ocelot O_o for real
Hopefully at October Expo 2011. :)
I am sooo looking forward to this!
Wow, this is looking fantastic! can't wait to see it all finished ^_^ I know someone who may be doing Crying Beauty, so hopefully we'll run into you.
This looks fantastic so far cant wait to see it finished EPIC ols snake vs wolf photos are needed
This is looking incredible!
^_^. I'm working like a mad woman to get this ready in time. I don't want to think about how much money I've spent, but I've managed to draw the spending out over 9months so far which has reduced the shock to my system.
SKJDF;KJ!
Holy crap this looks amazing, can't wait to see it finished!
This Is looking fantastic

The finished piece looks absolutely fantastic! Brilliant job!
this was utterly mind blowing!
this was Stunning! u won the masqurade in my book!
Thank you so much everyone. ^_^ Making people happy makes it so worthwhile for me. I love seeing people light up if I pull a character off well enough.
Unfortunately I had a breakage just as the pre-judging was happening and whilst repairs were made the damage was done and I lost points. It was so much fun hearing everyone clap and cheer when I popped out the top. Odangochan was fantastic as my guide, she tolerated my endless panicked bleating back stage and still guided me apparently effortlessly on and off.
THIS LOOKED AMAZING!
I only got to see it back stage during the masq =[ but wowzer you bought Crying wolf to life!
gjksdiubdowugdkjwh you truly outdid yourself sweetie <3 this is effin amazing! x.
OMG!! THAT WAS YOU??!! O_O You're so super talented!!!! This was truely amazing!! <3
This was AMAZING!! I loved watching you in the masq!!!!
Words can't convey how amazing this is! Your walk was amazing and the cosplay superb! I love how you made the feet so accurate! This is the best crying wolf I've ever seen - its like it just walked out of the game :)
This is definitely the best Crying Wolf costume out there! I was proud just to be able to go on stage with it.
this was absolutely FLAWLESS in person. I kind of really expected you to win something in the masq and was really dissapointed in judging when you hadn't.
10/10 totally in awe when i saw this
This is seriously awesome! xD
this is amazing kudos
..... o.o
saw you backstage, looked epic, well done :)
