|One thing I will be changing with this outfit is the fact I will be wearing girlie boxer bottoms instead of ones like hers as I'm definitely not as happy to be showing off as much of my body as her.|
So I've not updated this part of my costume for a while as been too busy actually making it. I decided due to time and money to actually make this jacket by buying a premade jacket and then modifying it to what I wanted it to be. I bought a fairly cheap jacket from ebay in a size too big (just to make sure it was big enough) and took all of the lining out. Once the lining was out, I unpicked the existing collar, removed the buttons, removed one sleeve and tidied it up to get the basic shell of a jacket.
The side of the jacket needed to be brought in as well as the front and the back to make it smaller so it could be laced up and have no over lapping pieces. Once this was done I added a length of boning next to the hem on the front and the back. The back boning only actually goes as far as my thigh as it does on Sweet Pea's jacket. I haven't added as much boning as hers either as didn't want to complicate things too much as it was my first time using boning. I used rigiline (sp?) 8mm plastic boning and luckily it has enough give to make the jacket fairly comfortable.
Because I got the jacket fairly big I also had to make the sleeve thinner, rather than removing the sleeve and making the arm hole small I just did a gradual diagonal line down the sleeve. Its not perfect but again just to time restraints its made less worse. I also shorted the other sleeve to elbow length.
Having finished one side of eyelets now I have totalled that this jacket will consist of 90 eyelets. Not bad considering Sweet Pea's has just over 100. I used larger eyelets with a 2cm gap between each which run along side the length of boning.
There are a few bits I'm not completely happy with like the back at the top the two sides almost joins up because I didn't put enough of a curve in the back seam when I did it. Something to remember if I ever remake this jacket.
I think if I ever do remake it I will be making it from scratch and possibly using my current jacket as a pattern base though so now apart from the few pieces I'm not happy with it will still be recognisable.
I will add pricing costs slowly as they are all in various places.

Jacket progress (Posted 22nd July 2011)
Well after posting pics up of my jacket yesterday I decided I wanted to bring the front a little lower to show off more bra. Obviously Abbie Cornish is a lot better endowed than myself so sadly I have to make do with what I've got. Currently in the process of removing one of the eyelets, shortening the boning and making the neckline come a bit lower. I think I got it where I want it now. Hopefully going to do a proper test of the jacket later with the rest of the outfit to see how it looks.
Stuff left to do on the jacket is finish the eyelets on the back, shape and hem the sides on diagonals (this will be done once I've tried the outfit on to get the correst length) and to add the hood which still needs to be made. After that its making accessories and weaponary that needs finishing.
Sample materials (Posted 25th June 2011)
I received the sample material for Sweet Pea from ebay. Its a black pleather with a black backing. It has a 1 one way stretch which I will use so it stretches horizontally. The fabric is £4.99 a metre. Still need to make a mock up to see how much I need though before I buy any.
Ebay finds (Posted 24th June 2011)
I'm currently bidding on a web yoke on ebay so fingers crossed I win it. Its actually made using camo fabric but I'm hoping to either cover it with grey fabric or see if I can paint it. Will also need to buy some black webbing for my gun (when I get round to getting it).
