|PLEASE NOTE: I did not wear this costume. I simply made it for a friend. So that's her in the photo.|
So, I made this for a friend of mine. She's been trying to get into cosplay for a while, but just never has. But then a few friends and I decided to do our School's annual sponsered walk in a group in cosplay. We decided on Pokemon for the theme, seeing as mostly everyone knew at least a *little* about the series/games.
But, you see, this friend had never made a costume before, so I offered to help out (and ended up doing most if not all of the work OTL) as long as she paid for the materials. It took me longer than it took my own costume (Lyra, btw) but it was worth it :3
On the day of the Walk, it was hissing down with rain. Not enough to usually phase me, but after about six hours, it was starting to grate on my nerves. Sadly, the tail and ears had to be taken off or hidden because the stuffing was cotton wool and the yellow parts were made of dishcloth, so if they had got wet it would have been baaaad >.< But I have a feeling she'll be wearing the costume again, so my hard work will have been worth it!
As to what I did...
The ears were made with a black material, stuffed with cotton wool and dishcloth strips stuck on with double-sided tape. They were then attached to a headband, which I also covered with black material. The tail was made the same way, but insead that was sewn onto a belt. Finally, I made the arm warmers by cutting material off the long sleeves and making thumb holes in the long piece(and hemming all the edges). The yellow circles were again dishcloth.
All this was worn with black shorts, leggings, shoes, the altered top, and a black wig.
SPECIAL THANKS TO: Kerri for buying the materials and my Mum for the amazing amount of time and effort she put in, even when she was feeling ill, to help me finish! :D
