Hakama Dyeing Crisis Solved (Posted 6th May 2011) The original Fabric i was planning to use to make the texture for Tenkai's Trousers has went rather badly since the crap tester I've used to see if the Fabric will absorb the dye well is currently showing little signs of any dye being absorbed into the fabric. Leaving me with a predicament which may lead to a last minute Hakama remake with a different fabric or alter my already existing pair which may also not dye. So right now I'm rather screwed if a solution isn't found in time. However after only an hour after i posted this, i've found out that metallic Paint works extremely well with the fabric and has pretty much saved me from a complete panic and break down. Good old Paint :) It hasnt let me down yet xD |

Scythe Making (Posted 23rd April 2011) Today was the start of the making the scythes for Tenkai so that at least one part is complete and out of the way, so after making a base design on paper i thought of making a cardboard mold to keep the foam in shape so that there would be less sanding and shaping to do. So after incerting the handle into the mold and spraying expanding foam into the mold and leave it to dry in the sun would be fine... however that didnt go according to plan because even after several hours only the top of the foam was completely solid whilst the rest of the foam inside was all slimy and gundgy which isnt very pleseant to look or work with. To add insult to injury the handle was too far to one edge of the mold and therefore i've now got to restart from scratch. For future reference never use too much foam to fill the mold and just layer the foam so it can dry and harden then add another layer to get the right thickness of the scythes. |
