Description
I decided to make this characters costume for my boyfriend as it suits his body type perfectly and we loved Gantz. I also really wanted to make a "gory" costume and this was the perfect opportunity. I though this was going to be a very simple costume but getting things in the correct colours has been nightmare. I had no idea how had it would be to find an old brown overcoat in the summer, we ended up having to buy a beige Burberry coat on ebay and dying it to the correct shade. We also then had to dye the top underneath to a dirty beige colour. Finding hair was the most difficult thing, the character has dark green sprouty hair on the top of his head. I had trouble finding a short spiky wig for starters (and I sell wigs!) and could only get one in a bright lime green. After lots of attempts to dye the wig with various methods, I finally found that mixing meths with the insides of permanant marker pens actually worked, and it's now a nice dark green, YEY! The most fun has been making the bullet holes and bloodstains. First we mixed red paint in a blood colour and flung it at the jacket, as the blood is from the humans he rips apart. Then we stabbed the jacket with a metal spike to create the bullet holes then painted the green alien blood. Getting the right consistency on the paint to let it run like blood was a bit trial and error and I wished I'd done more of a trial run first as I'm so much better at doing it now. Now I'm working on the make-up, for which I'm planning on using FX wax to create the correct face shape and painting the face and hands..cant wait for Amecon!
