|I chose to do Pikachu because my friends suggested and I agreed it would be a great idea, I also think because I am baby faced that it would be good for cute small animals you would find in animes. it also fun to see what you can make when turning a animal into part human through your own interpretation |
I found various things on the internet and put them together.
I chose to use a yellow jump suit as the main body which I brought of from ebay.
I used neon yellow arm warmers covered in paint (which doesn't look to bad on camera) and yellow socks that I also brought of ebay so the costume wouldn't seem so plain and centred around the body.
for the ears I found a artist who makes hats a hoodys on deviant and found there website, they also mentioned they used ebay and I found the hat on there.
lastly for the tail I cut up three tails from card board (all the same shape) and used PVA glue to help hold them together to make it strong, I then covered it in white printer paper to make all edges and sides smooth and so I could also paint on top of the cardboard without the brown showing through, I then painted the whole thing yellow and then put brown at the bottom part. I found a brown belt to help hold the tail up and measured the edge and then draw a line on the tail where I would cut out. I cut out the line making it about 5mm wide.
It only took about 6 months because I was looking for the right things to use (don't settle for the first thing you find, find others and compare them to see which will be more suitable) The tail took about a day and a half to make but only because of all the drying of glue and paint. Also a helpful tip, when cutting cardboard you should cut with a scalpel because scissors tend to tear the edges.
It is very comfortable to wear and doesn't get to hot so you don't over heated.
