|Background of the character:|
Only daughter of Aerys II Targaryen and Rhaella Targaryen.
Daenerys was born in the closing days of Robert's Rebellion after her father had already been killed. Queen Rhaella and her younger son, Viserys, were evacuated to Dragonstone shortly before Aerys's death, where Rhaella gave birth to Daenerys in the midst of a violent storm that destroyed the remnants of the Targaryen fleet, leading to her moniker, Daenerys Stormborn. Her mother died giving birth. The garrison at Dragonstone decided to surrender to Stannis Baratheon and hand over the last two Targaryens, but before they could act on this plan, Ser Willem Darry and four other loyal men were able to spirit them away to Braavos. Ser Willem looked after the children until he died several years later, and they were forced out into the streets. They wandered from city to city after that until ending up in Pentos, where Illyrio Mopatis took them in. During this period, Viserys was constantly cruel to Daenerys and often hurt her when he was angry. Illyrio arranged a marriage between Daenerys and a Dothraki khal named Drogo in return for men to reconquer the Seven Kingdoms. At Daenerys's wedding feast, Illyrio gave her three dragon eggs.
At first, Daenerys was terrified of Drogo and the Dothraki, but she came to love her husband and lose her fear not only of the Dothraki, but of her brother as well. She also gained the admiration of Ser Jorah Mormont, an exiled knight that entered Viserys's service in Pentos. Drogo took Daenerys to Vaes Dothrak to present her to the dosh khaleen as his new bride. By the time they arrived, Daenerys was pregnant with Drogo's child. The dosh khaleen declared that her son would be the Stallion That Mounts the World, a great conqueror prophesized to lead the Dothraki to glory. Viserys grew more and more impatient for the promised aid to restore him to the throne and finally went to far in threatening Drogo, leading to his death and making Daenerys the last Targaryen. Drogo initially refused to invade the Seven Kingdoms for Daenerys now that Viserys was dead, but changed his mind after a wine merchant made an attempt on her life due to a bounty put on her head by King Robert. He began to move his khalasar south to pillage villages for slaves to sell for ships. Drogo was wounded in one such raid, and Daenerys enlisted one of the newly captured slaves, Mirri Maz Duur, to treat the wound, but Drogo did not follow her instructions and soon became too weak to ride. Daenerys begged Mirri to save her husband, and she performed a blood magic ritual that left Daenerys's unborn child dead, Drogo an invalid, and Drogo's khalasar scattered. Daenerys smothered Drogo and built a giant funeral pyre for him on which she also placed Mirri and her dragon eggs. The great fire and the sacrifice of life caused her dragon eggs to hatch, and both Ser Jorah and the remaining Dothraki pledged themselves to her.
Physical Description: She has silver-blond hair and purple eyes.
