| For our One Piece group, back in the days before nearly anyone over here had heard of it, I decided on Jango. He's a badguy but damn he's cool. The coat was an old ex-German army design, and is heavy as hell, the detail is mostly painted on with gold fabric paint, a bit of 3D fabric paint, and the trim was sewn on by mother dearest.. It broke the needle on the machine near the end :/ The glasses I was more proud of - they're comedy costume shop glasses, heart shaped, but they were clear, so I used red glass paint on the inside of the lenses to get them the right colour, and used gold glitter paint around the edges to get the border. This meant I now had thick red blurry glasses, as the glass paint didn't go on perfectly evenly, and as I did this in such short notice, there were still paint fumes right next to my eyes. Whee. The hat I borrowed from a friend of my mothers who runs a costume shop - when I rewore it for AyaCon'05 I used a cheap witch's pointy hat, and inverted the point so it looked much more like Jango's. The beard was a pain, the first time I wore it I just used spirit gum which lasted the entire day, until midway down the aisle in the masquerade T_T The second time I used kite string to tie it around my ears.. Dear lord that hurt after a while. This was the infamous costume I had to moonwalk everywhere in. Getting the picture now? Moonwalking, big coat, big had, difficult to see through glasses? Yep. I crashed into the audience. Go me. | |
