Description
My fav costume to date and one I never imagined I'd complete what with a full time job! The head was constructed from a cricket helmet (bottom part of mouth guard sawn off to make his jaw) with a childs ball for him nose. The fabric was very cheap (£150/metre) sweatshirt material and was the absolute perfect colour. The boots were built up welly boots and covered in upholstery foam. The body is also made from this foam (3 pieces for £20) and the only different fabrics were matt pvc for the eyes and saddle edging, red suade for the saddle and red voile for his mouth so I could see out. Underneath the saddle is a large concealed bag so I had somewhere to put my expo goodies! Since making the outfit it has been changed significantly - the arms were removed and with the remaining fabric I made a sweatshirt with built in hands and have also made an additional set of larger boots and gloves (as I have arthritis in my hands and wrists). I wore this for the London Expo, October 2006 and won the main prize on the Sunday. It has been given thumbs up by Nintendo apparantly and has featured in the Anime Central CosDocs (available on YouTube) and in the Guinness World Gaming Record initial attempt at a mass gathering of cosplayed games characters. It has been on display at the London Film and Comic con and for used from promoting Super Smash Bros: Brawl at Norwich Game Station and currently is sitting in the back of my Ford Fiesta as I have no where to store it as yet >< Although I may remake this outfit (or make the younger Yoshis Island version) I dont plan to retire this. I would consider selling it if the right offer came along tho... ;)
