|As soon as I watched the first episode of PSG, I just knew that I absolutely had to make this costume. I loved the design, the shape of the dress -- the little waist cincher with the huge poofy circle skirt was just something that appealed to me so much! |
I used bridal and duchesse satin in white and oyster grey for the majority of the dress. My timing was excellent as I managed to find generous amounts of these materials in my local fabric shop's remnant bin! Score! So that was quite a hefty sum off money hacked off my total. I used two inch wide satin ribbon for the blue detailing, valentine's day decorations that I painted for the hearts, and hammered eyelets into the front of the bodice for the decorative lacing. The armwarmers/gloves and legwarmers I made out of cotton blend fabrics and the pettiskirt was bought from eBay.
I added a few small extra details into the costume to add a touch of my personality. :P I sewed small crystal heart and teardrop beads onto the choker in a sort of winged-heart design. The back of the dress has a large bow (which you can't actually see because the looong wig covers it!). I also handmade a Honekoneko the night before I wore it, as I wanted a bag that would fit the costume.
This costume is also quite special to me as I patterned everything by myself for the first time. I love love LOVE this costume to pieces! There are some things that I need to fix which became apparent when I wore it (the straps are sewn too far apart on the bodice, bows need to be placed and I need a new hairbow ;o; ), and I also need to wear a corset as the pettiskirt makes me seem much thicker around the waist than I actually am but I cannot wait to wear this costume again!
