Description
Sakura has always been my favourite character and this is one of my favourite Sakura costumes. I been wanting to do this costume 2 years ago, but I never had any sewing skills >.<" Since I have made Ashe's wedding dress which was a seriously difficult costume, I can't complain about the difficult level of this costume. Also me and my friends were planing a massive Tsubasa group for London Expo Oct 09 and they wanted me to be Sakura, but I didn't mind because I wanted to be Sakura anyways.

I ended up making this costume a year earlier and debuted it for London Expo Oct 08. Reason is because CrystalNeko started a thread on the Expo forums about having a CLAMP group & photoshoot and I REALLY wanted to join in! I never liked my DragonFly race dress or my amine default costume, so I'm wanting to make her Clow country so at least I know my costume will be in time next year for my Tsubasa group.

I would have started to make this costume after May's Expo, so it will give me just over 4 months however I left it until after the AmeCon 08 which was probably a bad idea as I only started to make this costume in mid September & finished a day just before the Expo, so overall it was made in a huge rush! Despite the fact I rushed half of the costume, I'm fairly pleased with it because it was the only costume I have where the sewing and details were fairly neat.

The costume was made out of 4m of white fabric. I can't remember the name of the fabric because I saw it lying in the middle of the shop with no name, but I had to grab it because it was so perfect for this costume. The fabric was stiff and thick which I wanted as I get paranoid about costumes being ripped or being too transparent that you can see whats underneath. The details on the skirt, top and headband was done by using the applique method. I used 2m black cotton, 2m burgundy cotton, 2 1/2m hemp, 1/2m pink fabric (don't remember the name) and 20m+ gold satin ribbon.

costume is not finished. I still need to fix up the sleeves, make the shoes and scraf, plus make more coins. I should have it complete by Oct 09 when I will re-wear this costume again!

Skirt almost done, top in progress (Posted 3 Months Ago)

I started to make the top yesterday night and it looks okay-ish so far. The top is meant to be the most difficult part of the costume since I have heard problems about the difficulty from other cosplayers, so with only 3 weeks left until the Expo, I really wanted to get the base of the top right to get the hardest part of the way. Still need to do a lot of work, but I'm at least getting somewhere, the next stage will be to make the sleeves.
The skirt is almost complete, but still need to make about a hundred coins and sew then on the hem of the skirt. Not really looking forward to this as I know it will take a very long time, but it needs to be done!!!

Skirt progess (Posted 3 Months Ago)

I have finally managed to make progress on the skirt. Brought a roll of gold ribbon from Midpac and started to do further work on the applique. It took more then 15 hours to applique the designs and still not finished (dies over hand sewing) It caused so MUCH pain, I stabbed myself with the needle several times and my fingers started bleeding, but luckily I never got any blood stains on the skirt. I plan to finish the skirt within the next week so I can concentrate on the top.
