| This costume had several pieces: 1) Undergarments, including tight t-shirt to flatten my chest 2) White dress shirt 3) Military uniform shirt (held closed by pins, to be updated to velcro should I wear it again) 4) Pants matching the military shirt in colour 5) The "butt-cape", tied around the waist 6) Military boots 7) Hairties, "tattooes" drawn on the hands in felt pen... This was the first cosplay costume that I had ever made, and a friend's mother helped significantly with figuring out the alterations for the suit pattern, in addition to helping with much of the sewing. However, I did all of the details myself - including the epaulettes, buttons, interfacing, hairstyle, etc. Lesson learned from this costume: piping sucks, and costumes that will involve it should be avoided. I've lost count of how many times the fabric frayed just slightly, leaving a small length of grey piping gaping... I quite enjoyed wearing it, actually, for all that it was summertime at all of the small cons I wore it to, and therefore very sweltering. I had to consciously walk in a more "manly" way, though: no putting my feet directly in front of each other in a swaying walk as I normally do... As there is no list of cons outside of Europe... I have worn this costume at the following Canadian cons: -Animethon 2007, held at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada -Bellerose Anime Convention 2007, held at Bellerose Composite Highschool in St.Albert, Alberta, Canada -Nishikaze Anime Festival 2008, held at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada -Soba Bowl 2008, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada | |
