| One of my favourite characters! Not only is he ridiculous, but he's red! This cosplay was great fun to do but also a little troublesome; the sleeves of the jacket kept slipping off my arms (I made them too long) and I sewed the buttons on in the wrong place (and never got around to repositioning them) Also had issues with the wig tangling and - despite being hairsprayed to hell - blowing everywhere! Still, I enjoyed running around as Grell :D Hardest part of the costume was the collar of the jacket; it gave me a real headache. Styling the wig was a big pain in the bum too--for some reason it just did not want to stay in place! Easiest part was the sleeve holders :D I lost track of what it cost and how long it took me =/ Hopefully I can detangle the wig for future Grell cosplays! | |

Progress (6) (Posted 29th June 2011) Finally finished the coat! I'm not 100% happy with it but it's got to the point where it's suitable--it stays in one piece, it's lined, there's a bow on the back, buttons on the sleeves and bias binding around the edges! Decided that I probably won't make the deathscythe for this costume (not this time around anyway!). I have two other costumes to make yet, and this one to finish (just got to do the wig, now). |

Progress (5) (Posted 15th May 2011) ...so having a job (and being lazy) can severely impact upon motivation to sew cosplay. Today is the first since the end of March that I've worked on this! All I ended up doing was attaching the sleeves to the coat and making a lining; the lining itself is still unattached (it will be held in by a few little stitches and the bias binding around the edge of the coat). Also have to make and put on the bow and the buttons, but due to being coldified I didn't feel up to doing much. Curse you, germs!!! |

Progress (4) (Posted 21st March 2011) Wow, I'm so bad at updating. |
|
Progress (3) (Posted 3rd March 2011) My wig is here~~!!!! Still haven't got the fabric for the coat which is freaking annoying! D= Fabric shops are letting me down! However I got the materials for the glasses chain and spent about 2-2.5 hours linking together beads on eye pins and attaching them to my fimo skulls. Really repetitive but easy to get into the flow of! |

Progess (2) (Posted 28th February 2011) So far fabric shops have failed me in providing decent red fabric! So I've yet to make the coat for this costume... However, I decided to buy some trousers instead of hacking at an existing pair--it took a couple of hours to adjust them into the right shape and cost me the princely sum of £3.50! Today I made the sleeve holders (a really basic, easy job, which used some leftover stuff) and the waistcoat. Discovered Grell's waistcoat is meant to be backless, so had to draft my own pattern and play around until I got something resembling Grell's! Finished it today though; probably spent 4 hours on it including drafting the pattern, ironing and pausing to drink tea! |

Progress (1) (Posted 22nd February 2011) Thanks to a wardrobe full of stuff I already have boots and trousers suitable for this costume! Might take the trousers in a little at the hems though. Have found an awesomely long wig on ebay (woohoo for ebay), also glasses and little skull beads for the glasses chain. Now I have to be patient and wait for them to turn up! Thinking that I might be able to get away without buying new false eyelashes, since I already have loads of them from previous cosplays! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to go and buy some fabrics and a couple of suitable patterns! |

Awesome! Love Grell. Can't wait to see this. I'll be in Madam Red on the Sat if you fancy getting photos together.
Oh you were that Grell! Awesome cosplay and was great seeing you at Ayacon. XD
