This works wonderfully on you, I esp love the way the skirt holds its flicked out shape - how does it do that, what is this wire technique and how is it attached??

Thanks everyone for all the lovely comments ^^

Ranma 1-2: I attached some wire to the seams on both sides which go from the waist to the hem (just by sewing the wire in.) The wire is held to my waist by the "corset" type waistband and then can be bent as desired to make the flicky shape. That on its own wasn't strong enough due to the weight of the material so it is all supported with a petticoat which is also held in around the waist by the waistband piece :) I found I had to keep adjusting my skirt throughout the day however to keep it looking like the pictures show. Hope that helped! I'm not very good at explaining things so if it didn't make sense just send me another message and I shall try again :D

It makes sense. Aha petticote too! Its something I think a lot of us overlook ie an under layer which provides structure and support so the outer layer of the costume forms the right shape. Ultimately this is why I was unhappy with the final shape of my Nehelenia dress. But I will go back to that someday and make something underneath to give it the right shape. :)

Updated Version Complete (Posted 15th October 2011)

I have made all the adjustments that I wanted to add for the moment ^^

Expo Improvements (Posted 1st September 2011)

This cosplay will be in its element at October Expo, I shall be able to get myself all manor of pumpkin shaped things XD I will be making some improvements between now and then :)

-Wig: This has already undergone some re-styling but I will be tidying it up a tad more.
-Hat: At the moment the piece coming of the hat just sort of flails in the wind. I will be attempting to make it into the sqaure curl hers has...how successful this will be is yet to be forseen.
-Skirt: I will be inserting wire to try and make it look more like hers rather than just hanging limp.
-General Adjustments: The arm pieces and leg pieces are slightly to big for me now so I shall have to adjust them back to fitting.

Urgh essay over...now just to do it all XD

Skirt (Posted 21st June 2011)

Have finally got ahold of some wire to make my skirt poof out like hers :D That shall be added next time I wear this one :D My friend tried to add the wire when they were making it but it just wouldn't go in the post like that XD Better late than never :D
