Wild expectations? (Posted 18th January 2011) I started papier macheing the masks first layer today. Bearing in mind that I haven't done anything like this for at least 6 years I was a bit apprehensive about how it was going to turn out. I think when I started I mixed the pva and water a bit thinly, because not long after I started the mask started to lose what little rigidity it had and went a bit Louie Spence on me. After thickening my paste by adding more glue it started to come together. The ears are the biggest problem at the moment because as the mask gets wet it sags and the ears just get stuck to the table. It's not as solid as I had hoped it was going to be. But then again I've only put 2/3 layers on. Can anybody recommend any materials that may do this job better than newspaper? |

Papercraft mask! (Posted 17th January 2011) Constructed the papercraft mask today! Was easier than anticipated, with help to Pekura Viewer. The right ear is a bit wobbly but I can easily strengthen that up when I move on to papier mache the whole thing. This will either go well or badly. Only time will tell. |
