|My first cosplay costume.|
All my friends were cosplaying from APH, and on a whim I looked through a page of character designs and jokingly asked if I could be Belarus as I liked her dress. My girlfriend and her best friend thought it was a good idea and encouraged me to give it a go.
I used a pattern for a lolita dress, bodged the sleeves using on old shirt and help from Mum, and improvised the rest. Instead of making a collar I wore a blouse uder the dress, and sewed lace around the join.
Puffy sleeves are really hard if you don't have a good pattern! But net petticoats are a breeze.
Reaction was very positive, and I had great fun interacting with cosplayers of the characters love interest Russia.
For May Expo I wore heels, which were fine for a while, but not so great after a day on your feet. For October Espo I went with combat boots!
