Journal

and so it begins... (Posted 1st July 2012)

Spent an unhealthy amount on this costume in the past two days and I couldn't be more excited! I'm absolutely drowning in yellow fabric, it's ridiculous. Unfortunately my pattern seems to be incredibly hard to understand so we'll have to see how it goes, but I have decided to go for a more 'historically accurate' approach rather than the extremely simplistic character design in the film, because I wanted it to have more detail - and really, to break all of the yellow up! This means that instead of doing one dress, I'm doing a bodice/jacket, a skirt, and a seperate bustle. It's mainly the bodice I'm taking some liberties on but I hope it'll turn out much more well fitted and interesting to look at than taking it straight from the movie design. I've watched Tarzan a ridiculous amount of times in preparation for this and I can't wait to get stuck in!
