|My friends and I have been planning on doing a Disney princess group for a long time and I was always a bit unsure on Princesses - never liked them as a child! I managed to settle on one in the end and I ended up picking Snow White :) We had to use a bit of artistic license with this costume as the colours change drastically between the film, recent design and Disney park outfits.|
This was completely finished pretty much the day before Manchester MCM Expo 2011! It would had been finished earlier had I not decided to make the last minute decision of adding a cape :P The costume was constructed by Luminescence and CrazedTeensie mainly. Much love <3 I didn't have any props to make for the group this time around so I felt a bit useless throughout the process XD
The wig was one that CrazedTeensie already owned. I was considering getting a wig off eBay but as we already had a short black one within our cosplay group I thought it was a waste of money really. It's not 100% accurate (it doesn't curl at the ends like hers does) but it didn't bother me so I just went with it. The headbow was made by Luminescence.
The dress was split between the two I already mentioned, I think Cat did the collar, sleeves and skirt whilst Zoe worked on the bodice. I only ended up buying the material for the skirt and the bodice as the rest of the material was donated by various people in my cosplay group :P We had a Princess dress pattern on hand which included the pattern for the collar, so we got some white material and put some foam inside it to create the standing up effect. This was lovingly known as the cone of shame XD
The cape was made by Zoe after a last minute decision from me. It ties at the front using a brooch donated by Cat. I thought the brooch worked quite nicely as I think the Disney Parks dress tied with some sort of attachment at the front. It fit in nicely with the design and tied well.
The shoes were originally a mustard yellow colour (not what I was expecting when I first bought them), so Zoe used a shoe dye kit to dye them a lighter yellow like her Belle shoes. The dye didn't stick amazingly to my shoes however, but on close inspection it wasn't as bad as I thought it was so I stayed with it rather than painting them over again. Relion made the bows for the shoes and attached them for them. The shoes are definitely my favourite part of this costume because of the huuuuuge bows :D They're so cute!
I wanted a prop for this costume because I feel a bit awkward posing without one. I went for an obvious choice of a bright red apple and this came in handy when I did a shoot later in the day with Emizone :)
All in all, I had such a good experience in this costume. We were a big hit with children who loved being surrounded by Princesses - we couldn't get very far without being stopped by another child XD It was great having such a huge group too! I have learnt a hard lesson though - heels at a convention/expo are not fun in the slightest haha. I couldn't walk by the end of the day because the shoes dug into my feet so much... but being a Princess for a day was so fun that I'm definitely going to do it again <3

Nearly complete! (Posted 25th July 2011)
My dress is completely finished now :D So much love goes to Cat (Crazedteensie) and Zoe (Luminescence) as they made my dress between them. So that's completely done now :)
I made a kind of last minute decision to have the cape made as well, which I bought the material for today. Zoe is going to handle that for me within the next few days (I think we're having a couple of emergency cosplay sessions on Thursday and Friday just before Expo!).
Zoe also dyed the shoes for me using her shoe dye kit, but unfortunately it only picked up the dye in certain places so they're a bit patchy :( But she's going to do a second coating for me and if it still doesn't stick, paint them. Then everything is finished 8D
Dress nearly finished :) (Posted 12th July 2011)
Just got the cuffs on the sleeves and a bit of hemming, then its finished! I love my cosplay group :D
Back into progress! (Posted 12th July 2011)
Luminescence and CrazedTeensie are currently in the middle of making my dress and wig 8D Much looooooooooove
Fabric (Posted 30th June 2011)
Got the majority of fabric for this cosplay now (if not all of it)! I went to Abakhan with Lou and Zoe today and Lou bought the last bit of fabric I needed for me :) The two of them have donated bits and pieces for me as well - Lou, the red bit in the sleeves and Zoe, the collar. There was a 75% off sale on fabrics today so we did go a bit mad hahaha :P
With the fabric choices, I think this is going to end up looking a bit more like a Disney parks version of Snow White rather than original film colours. I think I'm planning on having a day with Zoe getting this one done. Hopefully should be finished soon!
Progress (Posted 29th January 2011)
Dress is officially in progress! Cat and Zoe started making it for me today and I'm really looking forward to getting it finished :) There's still quite a few things that need to be bought to get this cosplay completely done, but it doesn't need to be done until the summer anyway :)
The shoes arrived a while ago, but they're completely the wrong colour and not what I was aiming for. I'm gonna have to look out for some new ones, but I guess if I don't find any in the future, they'll have to do.
Prince Charming (Posted 11th January 2011)
I managed to convince the boyfriend into being Prince Charming for me when we do our Disney Princess group, seeing as my friends seem intent on getting their counterparts for the group too. I made a quick collage from various images, but there aren't very many clear reference shots of Prince Charming unfortunately :( Very excited about getting him to do this with me :D
Shoes (Posted 10th January 2011)
Got my eyes on some nice yellow shoes on eBay that look a perfect colour for the skirt part of the dress :D The auction ends on Sunday so I'm gonna keep an eye on them until then. They're only £9 but will need a bow adding :)
The beginning (Posted 6th January 2011)
Bought some fabric to start this off today, got a nice blue velvet for the top half of the dress and a really nice bright yellow satin 8D Very happy!
