| For the first time ever, I've commissioned a costume! I wanted to enter the Cosplay Ball Talent Search at Hyper Japan but didn't think I'd have the time to make something suitable, and since commissioned costumes weren't against the rules I went for it! The costume and boots were both commissioned from human_go on eBay (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/human-go-cosplay-costume-store). I chose Luka because I was planning to sing in the competition so I wanted a singing character to cosplay as, and because my singing capabilities are quite broad-ranging (and what I planned to sing in the competition was something that was perhaps a bit unusual) Luka seemed to be exactly what I needed. I love her songs, too (Toeto is probably my favourite, it's so cute)! I sang "Mon Coeur S'Ouvre A Ta Voix", Delilah's aria from the opera "Samson and Delilah", and I sang it in French. I didn't win but I got really good feedback from the judges, and despite being really nervous I think I did an OK job of singing (this was my first time doing a solo opera performance!). I also got ushered into the Nico Nico Douga booth at Hyper Japan where I spontaneously sang a bit of "Toeto" for the site users - apparently it went down well! So I consider this a success all round ^_^ I wore it again at Minamicon 17 because I wanted to sing for an audience again. This time I did Cherubino's aria, "Voi Che Sapete", from "The Marriage of Figaro". With the benefit of video I noticed a couple of bad notes but I got such an amazing response from the audience, it was a real buzz! | |
