|This has been my ultimate costume to date! I made the fabric part of the costume entirely. The wings were made a photographer friend and the prosthetics were sculpted by a makeup artist friend of mine.|
The wings are made from a light wood base, with wire strengthening, aluminium tubing 'fingers' and foam covering. the skin is made from latex dipped interfacing, this creates a very skin like feel. the wings are attached to my back via a back harness which was cast to fit my back perfectly allowing me to wear these wings for at least 4 hours. They were not that heavy, the weight was spread over all of the wings.
The bodice of the costume hides the straps.
This was exactly how they did it in the show i found out later!
The prosthetics included an forhead piece and ear tips.I also wore claws which were made from miliput sculpted onto fake nails. My 'hooves' were simple foam pieces that when i stood on my toes shaped my feet into hoof shape. Then i used normal dark foundations and a sponge stamp to create the scaly mottled skin.
All the costume was made from synthetic leather, and latex foam. it was also hand painted with real metal rivets attached.
