Post MCM expo (Posted 9th November 2011) Well, I had a lot of fun at expo :D Zelda was not fully finished in time, and after some wear and tear I will be remaking certain parts for the Midlands MCM expo. Apart from that, I am happy that it didn't fall apart completely and that I got the main parts finished. Very happy with the masquerade shots, much thankies to Nert :3 Look out for updates ^0^ |

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! D: (Posted 18th October 2011) So, there are about 10 days left to finish Zelda... Yeah, I'm screwed! Currently 4 out of the 8 glyphs at the bottom of the dress have been finished completely, 3 more have had the outline darned and the other one is just non existent at the moment. The ribbon has been attached to the bottom of the dress, however the criss cross bit is taking forever to pin, sew then pin and sew some more xD The lining is all sewn up and it just needs to be sewn into the white dress with the tulle attached to give a full effect. The new purple bodice has been drafted from the old one and I need to cut it out, sew it up and embroider around the outside. I also need to put foam inserts into the wig... I have other stuff that I need to do aswell, so I'm going to stop writing and get back to storming through this cosplay. However, I refuse to rush, I would rather have a detail missing than a detail that I am not happy with. Overall... I believe I will get it finished, even if that means sewing on the friday night of expo xD |

1 step forward 2 steps back (Posted 3rd August 2011) So, I finally got around to putting all of the 8 kick pleats into the bottom of the dress. They have worked out pretty well and now I can't stop spinning around because of how wide the bottom of the dress is now :D I will be making the lining and adding white tulle to the inside to give the dress its bell shape this weekend after another trip to the fabric store. So after making progress I looked at my purple bodice, and all I can say is that I am not happy with it. I shall be scrapping that and remaking it before I waste any more time doing embroidery on it. This may seem a bit daft, but I want to do Zelda justice as a character and little inaccurate items will get on my nerves so I might as well change it now rather than later xD Ribbon here I come! |

The bow (Posted 12th June 2011) Firstly, I have now decided that I will be wearing this both days of the expo, mainly due to the cost of creating this - and that Zelda is just so amazing :D I'm sad that I won't be cosplaying the Halloween version of Fai, but I am hoping to do it eventually. I have changed my mind and gone for the bow now, the sword was just a tester of carving foam and applying layers. When I carve out the bow I know exactly what I will be doing thanks to the practise run. I have also noticed quite a few cosplayers using these awesome lights and I thought it would be the perfect addition to the light bow, seeing as it is a light bow n' all. Hopefully I will be buying the dupion soon so I can get the basic construction done and the embroidery can be started, as it will be the most time consuming part of this entire outfit. |

Dress (Posted 4th June 2011) I bought my materials for the dress this morning and decided to have a go at patterning the dress with newspaper. This was done quickly and I decided whilst having the urge to make the dress I would get started with the real material. Now, this was pretty duanting for me, as I only have a limitied amount of money and this was the most expensive material that i have had to work with (£6.50 a meter!) so I couldn't afford any mistakes, no pun intended. I cut it all out in about an hour and then pinned, sewed, adjusted and then added a zip. To complete this I need to create a lining and add tulle so that the dress actually stands out and I need to add kick pleats to the bottom of the dress where you can see it is not connected. It took me about 7 hours from patterning to this stage so far! Can't wait to finish it off so I can get started on either the detailing or the purple bit :D |

Expensive! (Posted 1st June 2011) So, I was adding all the stuff I needed to buy to the shopping list then the cost got a bit to high and depressing so I stopped, mainly for my own sanity. Oh cosplay, you do love to be expensive xD Any-who, I made a plan for the dress, just a vague one to make sure I will have enough satin for the dress so I can get started on it. My dad should be bringing home some wax and other things so I can carve wax and make resin jems :D I'm hoping to use food colouring with the resin as I am too cheap to buy the 'proper' stuff :p Dream cosplay go! |
