Kudos to you for making chain mail. It looks amazing and I'm really looking forward to watching it grow. Where did you find suitable rings?

Amazing! How does casting with fibreglass work? I've only heard of people using the fibreglass sheets.

Fiberglass :D ! (Posted 12th February 2012)

Guess what I did yesterday for 2 hours in the freezing cold, that's right, fiberglassing!

I stuck the picture on the side there to show ma overalls and safety gear, cause fiberglass is nasty stuff, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who has no idea what they are doing because this stuff can kill :/

Buuut, if you do know what you are doing, this stuff is super special awesome! I can't wait to get the next half done, attached, sanded, sanded some more, painted, lacquered and posted :)

The Master Sword! (Posted 3rd August 2011)

So, I shall be starting with the props first, mainly as I have no measurements from my friend so I can't start on the tunic or chainmail just yet.

I drew out half of the sword, cut it out and then just traced round it twice to make sure that both side are equal. This will be my base for one side of the master sword and I will be putting clay over the top of it and then carving and moulding it into the correct shape for the master sword.

After that is complete I will be painting latex like stuff over the top to create a mould, leaving it to set then putting fiberglass into the mould. I will then use the mould again for the other side and then stick the two pieces together. That makes it sound quite simple, but like anything else, it isn't. I'm hoping to get it started this week.

After I finish the master sword I will have a mould left over, so if anyone would be interested in buying a master sword off me when you see the finished product that will be possible, although probably not cheap, mainly due to the time it takes and the materials needed.

Can't wait to get started :D
